The ENACT programme at the ISS seeks to appoint a Communication Officer who will oversee the project’s communication and visibility.
This includes designing and implementing communication strategies and campaigns, managing public and media outreach, and enhancing the project’s public profile.
The ideal candidate should have outstanding written, visual and verbal communication skills as well as experience in digital communication and new technologies.
The position requires an organised, motivated and flexible multi-tasker who can handle a range of deadline-driven tasks at short notice. The successful candidate will report to the ENACT Programme Head.
Overview of duties
Communications quality assurance – ensure project deliverables adhere to ENACT, EU and ISS policies and guidelines and provide final sign-off on all outputs related to communication and visibility
Coordinate or produce various written and multimedia content, including press releases, results stories, infographics, videos and photography
Coordinate the editing of ENACT online Observer articles and Trend Reports
Oversee the publications process for ENACT publications from start to finish
Oversee the project’s communication budget and expenditure in accordance with donor agreements and ISS policy
Commission and oversee the use of external service providers, including editors and designers
Develop and implement internal and external communication plans for events and publication launches
Manage and supervise ENACT’s Digital Communication Officer
[Overview of requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Communication or Journalism/Media studies
At least 5 years in a communications or journalism/media position
Experience in planning and implementing communication strategies, including budgeting, as well as writing press releases, short engaging articles, headlines, teasers
Knowledge and use of digital media and websites
Strong knowledge of social media platforms
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (French would be an advantage)
Experience in managing consultants and service providers in the publications production process
Ability to work systematically and accurately according to strict deadlines and under pressure
Knowledge of visual communication tools (Photoshop and InDesign would be an advantage)
This position requires extensive travel both regionally and internationally.
The contract will be for 12 months and may be renewed subject to programme requirements, funding and satisfactory performance.
