General SummaryThe Research Assistants’ primary role is to work with the health facilities and the community to ensure that the study is conducted according to the study protocol.
Key Responsibilities
Follow the set study protocol ie SOPs, interview guidelines, consent forms and
checklists
Assess the study participants basing on the inclusion checklist.
Obtain informed consent from the study participants.
Enroll study participants according to the protocol or stipulated guidelines
Maintain participant’s confidentiality and observing all research ethics
Conduct participant’s interviews effectively and efficiently
Document all observation and fill case report forms
Transcribe all audio-recorded interviews
Attend study meetings as scheduled.
Prepare for the meeting and compile minutes
Assist study coordinator in ethics submissions, approvals and renewals
Schedule study participant visits
Conduct data quality control and assurance reviews
Follow up study participants in clinic and community
Perform any other study related duties as assigned
Person Specifications
A University Degree in any of the following, Social work and social administration, Social science or other Science related discipline
Medical back ground is an added advantage
Basic computer skills and knowledge and familiarity using electronics and equipment
for data collection
Training in Good Clinical Practice and experience in clinical research
Training in counselling
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Team player
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, schedule and manage
multiple tasks in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
