Reports to: Lead Treaty Body & Criminal Justice Reform
Work station: Nairobi
Job PurposeThis position is responsible for leading in designing and implementing the organization’s community and networks engagement interventions in relation to criminal justice reform, access to justice and accountability.
Empowering communities, organising for change, establishing communities of practice, s/he is the liaison between local communities and the organization and helps to ensure that the organization understands and respects the needs of stakeholders at community level, while also helping to facilitate positive relationships.
Main Responsibilities of the JobsDevelops and leads the implementation of IMLU’s network and community strategies and ensures they are adhered to;
Maintains a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances and other communication opportunities;
Nurtures new and old relationships with collaborative partners especially social justice centres, community-based organisations and other human rights organizations involved in the anti- torture campaign;
Actively participates and represents the organisation in various networks/platforms and movements and provide information about the organization’s mission, programs, and activities;
Collects feedback from members of the community about their needs and concerns, which may be used to develop new programs or improve existing ones;
Works with the M and E officer to collect data about community needs to identify areas where the organization can have the greatest impact;
Schedules regular outreach programmes in the community and educates employees on community responsibility;
Supports the finance team to prepare an annual budget for community outreach activities;
Supports in planning and implementing community engagement activities such as surveys, focus groups, and public forums;
Coordinates the organization’s participation in civic events, such as demonstrations, protests, peaceful walks, etc; and
Performs any other duty assigned from time to time.

Bachelor’s degree in Social Science or a related field of study is considered an asset.
