ILRI Project Accountant Vacancies in Ethiopia
ICRAF Vacancy: Project Accountant (Closing date: 21 December 2017)Duty Station: Addis Ababa, EthiopiaKey Responsibilities:Prepare project payments by verifying documentation and ensure that payments have proper authorization and supporting documents;
Process project advance liquidation or expense recording after the receipt of the original invoices and relevant documents by verifying the supporting documents presented are appropriate, sufficient and in line with the policy;
Ensure project/ Provision of Adequate Tree Seed Portfolios (PATSPO) partners’ financial returns are submitted;
Review advance requests and financial returns by partners with reference to contractual obligations and partner financial obligations liquidation effected in the One Corporate System (OCS), and work closely with partner’s finance team for successful implementation of Provision of Adequate Tree Seed Portfolios (PATSPO);
Control bank account balances and report when the balance is low so as to take the necessary action before checks are written;
Prepare monthly project imprest reports, bank reconciliation and cash book records, and organize supporting documents in the manner required;
Prepare country office monthly project imprest request and share with ICRAF Head Quarters;
Maintain accurate, updated/real-time and secured accounting record in OCS;
Ensure the availability of sufficient cash at the bank and liaise with ICRAF Head Quarters for transfer of project imprest fund to the ICRAF Ethiopia office/ Provision of Adequate Tree Seed Portfolios (PATSPO);
Ensure that payment commitments are honored on time;
Check the accuracy and compliance of petty cash expenditure and its timely replenishment;
Review partners quarterly finance report & share to ICRAF Regional Office/PATSPO and work closely with partner’s finance team for successful implementation of PATSPO;
Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly and annual project internal financial report for PATSPO and share with the Project Management Team (PMT) for management decision;
The Project Accountant will report to the ICRAF Country Representative (ICR) and the Senior Team Leader (STL).
Education:
BA degree in Financial Management /Accounting from a recognized university
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in similar positions at international organizations like the research institutions under the CGIAR setup is an added qualification
Skills:
Familiarity with developments in accounting
Proficiency in MS Office and relevant accounting systems
Carries out work as instructed, Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and organize workload
Collects and analyses accounting data and prepare reports, Maintains records
Flexible on work hours
Follows policies and procedures
Good interpersonal skills
Is receptive to feedback, Understands role and responsibilities
Appreciates impact of own work.

Key Responsibilities:
The Provision of Adequate Tree Seed Portfolios (PATSPO) Regional Seed Centre Coordinator is responsible for coordination of all project inputs to the Regional Seed Centre with the ICRAF Office in Addis Ababa and Head of the Regional Seed Centre;
Responsible for all infrastructure, vehicles and equipment provided by PATSPO during the period of the project implementation;
Responsible for liaison and coordination of collaboration with the relevant authorities and projects in the region under supervision of the Liaison and Network Coordination Officer;
The PATSPO Regional Seed Centre Coordinator is answering to the ICRAF Country Representative (ICR) and the Senior Team Leader (STL).
Requirements
BSc degree or MSc degree in Forestry or any other related field.
At least 5 years work experience for BSc degree or MSc degree with 3 years relevant experience
Knowledge of project technical subjects required.
Field experience is a plus
Management and administrative experience an additional advantage
Familiarity with development and relevant techniques in the subject matter
Ability to plan work and multi-task
Computer literacy i.e. knowledge in MS Office
Ability to analyze data and prepare progress records and reports
Manages staff in their day to day activities
Updates relevant manuals/protocols
Flexible on work hours including travel and extended field work
Follows policies and procedures

ICRAF Vacancy: Seed Procurement Officer
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Key Responsibilities:
The Seed Procurement Officer is responsible for the coordination of seed procurement activities of Provision of Adequate Tree Seed Portfolios (PATSPO);
Responsible for the implementation of the seed procurement activities as outlined in the Project Implementation Plan (PIP), and for all applied seed research activities supported by PATSPO;
In collaboration with the Regional Seed Centre Heads and the Tree Seed Technology Coordination (TSTC) responsible for national coordination and monitoring of seed demand and seed collection planning and implementation;
Support the Seed Source Officer in his/her efforts to establish seed sources in line with estimated future demand;
In collaboration with the Capacity Building and Outreach Officer support his/her efforts to implement relevant information- and training activities;
The Seed Procurement Officer is answering to the ICRAF Country Representative (ICRP) and the Senior Team Leader (STL).
Requirements
At least BSc degree or MSc degree in Forestry or related field with postgraduate specialization in seed procurement and/ seed technology, and with a broad understanding of tree improvement
A minimum of 5 years for BSc degree or 3 years for MSc degree post-graduate working experience including experience in research in seed procurement/seed technology. Post- graduate studies in either of the two subjects and/or experience from similar positions elsewhere will be considered an additional advantage.
Familiarity with development and relevant research techniques in the subject matter
Ability to plan work and multi-task
Computer literacy i.e. knowledge in MS Office
