ILRI Policy and Stakeholder Engagement Advisor Jobs in Kenya


The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a Digital Media and Content Specialist to be responsible for the execution of the institutes digital content strategy and produce content to support the delivery of ILRI’s purpose.

ILRI works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centres dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world.

Responsibilities:

Policy process engagement and influencing – on sustainable livestock

  • Working with other ILRI staff and partners, develop and implement policy development plans at different levels, from local to international levels
  • Targeted engagement with investors and partners as well as alliance-building and networking
  • Map key investors and partners, develop and manage stakeholder relationships effectively.

    Represent the organization in the different advocacy forums

  • Work alongside internal and external stakeholder to provide technical advice and support

    Ensuring good documentation of insights and learning, and wide dissemination of outputs

  • Lead ILRI’s engagement of the project, including participation in policy processes and events relevant to sustainable livestock
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver effective engagement content –including writing briefings, reports, case study evidence and other relevant materials to influence policies
    Collaborate with Communication and Knowledge Management team to support the development of press and campaigning strategies that support policy change strategies

    Project management and coordination

  • Overall coordination of the project including monitoring of outputs

    Requirements

  • Master’s degree in international development or related field
  • 10 or
    more years of professional experience in a related field
  • Skilled in engaging and influencing a range of partners and decision makers in the agriculture and development arenas
  • Experience in facilitating and convening multi-stakeholder processes at different levels (global, regional and national)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience in development agenda-setting/influencing processes
  • Thorough understanding of sustainable livestock and/or agriculture in developing countries
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multicultural settings
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; additional language an advantage
