The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a Driver who is in charge of responsibilities related to vehicle driving in the transport pool in collaboration with the Transport Officer II.
The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock.
It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centers dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. www.ilri.org.
Key responsibilities:Drives office vehicles in and out of Addis Ababa for the transport of authorized personnel and other items as required, strictly observing rules and regulations, demonstrating exemplary driving practice;
Logs all trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and keeps the logbook up to date;
Receives and takes visitors to and from airport, assisting with any formalities and taking them to and from places of resident;
Responsible for all tools, equipment and spare parts on the vehicle assigned to him/her;
Checks the mechanical status of the assigned vehicles on a day to day basis. Wash and clean regularly, undertakes minor repairs and report immediately major repair to be carried out;
Ensures timely servicing to
the vehicle as and when necessary and make sure that the vehicle is road worthy;
Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in any vehicle accident and promptly report them to supervisor;
Takes the responsibly for fuelling assigned vehicles through the immediate supervisor;
Prepares monthly summary of oil and fuel consumption and report to supervisor;
Performs any other function as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Requirements:
Education:
High School Complete/Preparatory Certificate level 1
Training:
Valid driving license for land cruisers
Experience:
At least five years of practical driving experience, preferably in an international organization
Skills:
Field trip experience in different parts of Ethiopia is required
Knowledge of Auto mechanics is desirable
Excellent communication skills, including inter-personal relationships
Good knowledge of Ethiopian roads and locations of Government offices and NGOs
