IIRR Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants Jobs in Kenya

The International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) is an international development, research and training organization with over 80 years of grassroots experience working in people‐centered and sustainable development programs in Africa and Asia.



IIRR is well reputed for its knowledge
management capacity through documentation of best development-oriented practices, and is seeking to strengthen its Kenya program activities by appointing a Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant.



Under the overall guidance of Programmes Director and specific leadership from the respective line managers, the job holder will be responsible for facilitating organization of field projects data collection and management including, analysis, interpretation and reporting for IIRR’s shared learning, and
spearheading the provision of demand led services in monitoring process within IIRR and with partners.


The successful candidate will support the M&E function of IIRR’s programmes/projects implemented based on 2 flagship program areas, which include;

  • Education for Pastoralists’ and marginalized communities
  • Food security and livelihoods resilience
    Each flagship program is integrated, incorporating key thematic areas to strengthen it, e.g. under education key areas of integration include water and sanitation hygiene, sexual gender based violence,
    sexual reproductive health, improvement of teachers professional capacities, solar lighting for schools, bio-intensive gardening for schools, enhancing parental/community support, among others, disaster risk
    reduction and climate change adaptation, among others.


    Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with projects/programs team leaders to address M&E requirements of each project/program.
  • Develop plans to address the identified M&E requirements with each project/program
  • Support M&E functional reporting as demanded by different projects/donors
  • Support development of M&E systems and frameworks for new projects under design
  • Support M&E training for staff and partners
  • Generating and maintaining database of IIRR projects, partners activities and collaborating
    institutions
  • Undertake any other M&E assignment as assigned by the team leaders in close consultation with program director


    Qualifications, Experience & Skills


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Development Economics and
    Statistics, or any other relevant field
  • At least 2 years similar experience in a reputable organization
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical and presentation skills
  • Sound understanding of program/project development and management cycle
  • Familiarity with participatory monitoring, learning and sharing and models for conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, assessments or evaluations
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Commitment to the realization of team goals/results/targets
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and to beat deadlines
  • Competent in the use of email, Internet, computer packages such as Microsoft word,
    PowerPoint and Excel as well as other advanced data analysis software such as SPSS and
    others
  • Other desired strengths, competencies and requirements
  • Some experience in management of communication strategies will be an added advantage
  • Ability to adapt quickly to field conditions in Northern Kenya (Marsabit, Samburu and Isiolo Counties) is a must whereas understanding of any of the local languages is added advantage
  • Be willing to take up the job immediately on an initial contract of 7 months, renewable on mutual agreement and subject to funding availability
