International Gorilla Conservation Programme (coalition of Conservation International, Fauna & Flora International and WWF) invite applications for the position of Advocacy & Communication Manager.
Reports to: Director
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Grade: B1
Goal of the Position:To design the deliver communications interventions that support IGCP's overall advocacy objectives in order to secure the future for mountain gorillas..
Responsibilities:The Advocacy & Communication Manager will develop and deliver strategies and approaches to advocate for best practice by facilitating dialog and agreement, working with different teams and coalition members to ensure delivery of impactful communications with the aim of delivering on IGCP‘s objectives through to business and political audiences.
Specific tasks: To be able to help lGCP staff map complicated advocacy issues. and from that, devise and lead a strategy for communication interventions that will deliver both for IGCP and coalition members as a whole.
Leading members of IGCP staff and from across the coalition member to deliver the communication activities plus direct management of one staff.
Develop and maintain the delivery and adaptive management of the IGCP advocacy and communication strategy.
Serve as a member of the Senior Management
Team of the international Gorilla Conservation Programme.
Manage relationships with key
external stakeholders, in particular members of coalition, media, and key partners and actors, to deliver communications in support of advocacy objectives. Monitor and steer development of content strategy and engagement strategies, including fundraising and managing budgets.
Work closely with IGCP members of staff and lGCP‘s coalition partners to ensure we are developing the right blend of communications activities to build our business and political influence.
Evaluate and communicate statistics and results of our communication interventions‘
Work with the Communication Officer to balance resource across our channels between the needs of advocacy communications, fundraising and public relations.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Bachelors, Masters preferred, in a related field
Minimum of five years’ experience in similar role
Required Skills and Competencies
Experience of successful planning, development and delivery of advocacy communications
Experience of evidence—bases and unbiased advocacy engagement on sensitive issues
Strong report writing skills and communication skills ‘
Excellent comprehension on how advocacy works
Strong track record of achieving change through a range of communication channels
Strong governance and project management experience
Experience in budget management
Experience of building strong networks and relationships, internal and external
Bilingual, English and French, preferred
Willingness to work as part of a multi-cultural team

Salary Package: Negotiable within defined scales
