Purpose of the JobThe position of SEARCH SAPPHIRE Clinical Officer is responsible for the day-day running of the SEARCH SAPPHIRE clinic at the participating Health Center.
S/he will oversee research participants clinic care at the facility; conduct research data collection; in addition to medicoadministration duties as the custodian of IDRC property at the Health Centre and provide
leadership to study nurse and counsellors.
Job Description
• Charged with oversight of the study including conducting administrative roles for study
staff at the health centre.
• Ensure participants are seen on time and the clinic opens Mon-Sun 8am-5pm, when on duty.
• Participate in screening of study participants and obtain informed consent from study
participants or their parents/guardians.
• Participate in entering laboratory results into case record forms and filing of the result
slips.
• Maintain confidentiality of study records and research findings as appropriate.
• Compile and submit weekly reports to the study coordinator.
• Responsible for ensuring that study data for the study are collected and case report forms
are filed.
• Charged with Clinical evaluation of study participants who may have complaints of
possible AE’s events and to adjudicate whether their symptoms and physical exams meet the criteria for adverse events and side effects of ART.
• Responsible for seeing the study participants who are referred by the counsellor for medical evaluation.
• Compliment efforts
of the other clinical officers already at the health centre who are
routinely seeing clients outside the study participants at the clinic.
• Will be responsible for adverse event monitoring.
• Any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
• Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health from a recognized training institution
• Good knowledge of GCP and PHRP with valid certificates.
• Registered by the Allied Health Professionals council.
• At least two years’ work experience an HIV clinic/ unit that supports community outreach
activities.
• Community-based PrEP delivery is an added advantage.
• Previous training in HIV/ART management especially community-based PrEP delivery is an
added advantage.
• Fluency in Runyankore.
• Good computer, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to operate in a rural setting and a fast and diverse environment with intense
demands.
