Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a housekeeping manager commonly performed in a hospitality setting like a short-let apartment are highlighted below:

  • Assign duties to members of staff

  • Inspect the environment to ensure it meets the required minimum best practice

  • Develop minimum standards for prospective members of the team and minimum standards for work rating

  • Listen to residents’ complaints and ensure that the complaints are addressed efficiently and effectively

  • Stand-in for any member of staff that is unavailable to carry out their duties in order to prevent any unfilled gap

  • Responsible for ensuring dirty laundry is timelessly and appropriately cleaned

  • Order supplies for the housekeeping team
    Welcome guests and show them around their apartments with the highest level of customer service and eloquence

  • Ensure efficient use of departmental resources

  • Direct and manage all housekeeping activities

  • Maintain a good relationship with residents and/or clients and suppliers of housekeeping items

  • Maintain a good relationship with the managers of other units in the organization.

  • Maintain a good relationship with the maintenance unit

    Requirements

  • Must be a graduate with a minimum (2nd class lower)

  • Must be extremely eloquent

  • Core organizational skills

  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • The ability to pay attention to details

  • The ability to work as part of a team

  • Good listening skill

  • Effective use of Excel Spreadsheet and Google Calendar

  • Good knowledge of managing listings on MLS platforms

  • Passionate about a hygienic environment

  • The ability to take the initiative and lead others

  • Effective interpersonal skill

  • Work experience as a Housekeeping Manager may be considered in lieu of appropriate certification

  • Punctuality to serve as an example to employees

  • Basic understanding of how to handle pressure

  • The ability to think critically over housekeeping issues and proffer cost-effective solutions

  • Self-control is also a necessary characteristic of a prospective housekeeping manager to handle difficult people appropriately

  • Proficiency in the use of information and communication technology tools is a plus for prospective housekeeping managers.
