Job Description
HI would like to hire a competent and interested applicant for the position of Assistant Family Planning/Sexual and Officer for the Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) project for different duty stations in Ethiopia.
This project is implemented in partnership with the consortium partners: Marie Stops Ethiopia (MSE), Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE), International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Development Media International (DMI) and Humanity and Inclusion.
Under the supervision and guidance of the FP/SRH Project Officer, the Assistant Family Planning/Sexual, Reproductive Health Assistant Officer will be based in one of the East Hararghe, West Hararghe, West Arsi, Addis Ababa and Sidama Woredas and will be responsible for providing technical assistance to HI project cluster Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) service provider, health facilities (public and private).
S/he will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a system for regular communication with SRH service provider through practical and onsite technical assistances with the aim of improving quality of Person with Disability inclusion to FP/SRH services.
Number of Position required: Six (One for each duty stations)
Project Implementation and Management Support
Develop periodic (quarterly, monthly, annually) project activity plans and performance reports of all activities.
Coordinates for smooth implementation of the project activities in collaboration with the consortium partners, health facilities, community health extension workers and other stakeholders.
Effectively plan, organize and implement awareness-raising campaigns and experience sharing opportunities with the Project Officer on person with disability accessing the FP/SRH services.
Monitor and ensure cluster health facility staff, Disability Peoples’ Organizations (DPOs), and Cluster Management Committees (CMCs) are implementing the agreed project activities based on standards and agreed timetable.
Organize regular performance assessment and review of project progress.
Make regular field trips to project cluster health facilities to monitor quality of activity implementation as assigned by the Project Officer and Project Manager.
Proper Documentation and Record Keeping
Ensure proper documentation of the project and efficient use of project’s resources.
Provide relevant and timely information for data driven decision making and monitoring of project performance to the project team and consortium partners.
Produce terms of reference and activity reports for each activity implemented and carry out regular recording and reporting of activities, field trips in coordination with other team members
Coordinate with consortium partners and local stakeholders to provide inputs for the periodical reports to be submit to the Project Officer as required.
Develop Resources Materials and Conduct Capacity Building/Awareness-Raising initiatives
Develop user-friendly person with disability inclusion awareness-raising material/manuals.
Conduct stimulating and effective training and information sharing sessions.
Translate short documents or review the translation of awareness raising materials to local language.
Conduct training need assessments and trainings for target beneficiaries, Community Health Workers (CHW), local FP/SRH service providers (public and private) and Disability Peoples’ Organizations (DPOs).
Maintain a High Quality of Work
Maintain a high level of knowledge and skills in understanding disability, inclusive family planning and sexual reproductive health services and methodologies for inclusion of person with disabilities.
Coordinate with the Project Officer to ensure the project and its activities comply with local laws and regulations, HI standards and donor requirements.
Ensure the project is implemented meeting the quality requirements of HI, consortium partners and the funding agency.
Responsible for Implementing the Safeguarding Policies at Project Level
Prepare work plans and implement safeguarding (Child Protection, Prevention of beneficiary from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse activities.
Respect and ensure compliance to the HI’s crucial safeguarding policies (protection of beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse, child protection, anti-fraud and bribery and code of conduct).
Ensures safeguarding policies are implemented at all levels in project sites, local partners are aware of the safeguarding policies and facilitate trainings to build their capacity in this regard.
Monitor and document the progress of child protection and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation Abuse (PSEA) activities and ensure that project beneficiaries are well-aware of these policies and promote to report any concern regarding child protection or PSEA.
Relationship Management
Work in cooperation and partnership with local government stakeholders to realize the project objectives.
Create and maintain conducive working relationships with consortium partners, health facility workers, communities, beneficiaries, project staff and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth implementation of the project activities.
Set-up and maintain effective communication system with partners and stakeholders.
Undertake other activities as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.
Job Requirements
Education and Qualification:
Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Officer, Health Promotion and Health Education with 3 related work experience.
Minimum of 2 to 3 years of programmatic and technical experience in SRH/FP programs funded by donors.
Work experience with NGOs on FP/SRH projects.
Experience in community mobilization and working in collaboration with health facilities, health offices and community health workers and other local stakeholders.
Personal qualities:
Essential:
Knowledge of local languages is Mandatory and command of English is an asset.
Computer literacy (Word, Excel and Power Point).
Ability to work with teams and develop team spirit.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Diligence and attention to detail.
High degree of confidentiality.
Never been convicted; free from khat, smoking, alcohol and substance abuse addictions.
Desired:
Prior knowledge on safeguarding and working with Persons with Disabilities.
Strong interpersonal skills and work in multicultural teams.
Field work oriented, flexible, diplomatic.
