Job Title:

Water Quality Engineer

Job Role:

Under general direction, plans, organizes, directs, and controls the functions of the Water Quality section.

Responsible for coordinating water quality data collection and reporting and implementing water quality monitoring and reporting programs in the fields of domestic water and sanitation

Essential Functions:

Supervise the work of environmental services specialist, environmental services coordinator, environmental services technician, and environmental services aide staff in the Water Quality section including planning, organizing, directing and controlling their assignments, goals, objectives and personal development.

Review, research and evaluate proposed water quality regulations and prepare reports for regulatory agencies, consultants and the public.

Develop, maintain and coordinate the water quality monitoring programs including implementing special studies related to water quality as assigned.

Participate in professional associations, workgroups and committees working on water quality issues.

Presenting technical data or project results; both technical and non-technical

Conduct, or oversee the conduct of, investigations on matters such as water storage, wastewater discharge, pollutants, permits, or other compliance and regulatory issues.

Write proposals, project reports, informational brochures, or other documents on wastewater purification, water supply and demand, or other water resource subjects.

Conduct, or oversee the conduct of, chemical, physical, and biological water quality

monitoring or sampling to ensure compliance with water quality standards.

Qualifications & Competencies

Diploma in water engineering with water quality option

Over 3 year experience in water quality testing in a busy and recognized water quality laboratory

Must be able to conduct water quality tests for microbes, heavy metals, and physical characteristics using water kits and precisely interpret and present the results

Good understanding of hygiene standards in handling food materials including drinking water

Experience working with a water bottling company including chain supply and logistics
