Hope for Justice is a global charity working to end human trafficking/modern slavery by preventing exploitation, rescuing victims, restoring lives and reforming society.
The Addressing Child Trafficking and Slavery (ACTS) project will deliver an integrated suite of activities at multiple levels in order to address issues surrounding the commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking of children in Kampala.
It will aim to reduce vulnerability of children and households to trafficking and exploitation through sustainable reintegration and economic strengthening, standardize trauma-informed care for survivors of trafficking across multiple structures to enable better support and navigation through justice systems and referral services.
It will also ensure practitioners respond effectively to victims and survivors of trafficking through engagement with and immersive training in trauma-informed care models
Responsibilities
Hope for Justice is seeking preferably a female person to lead outreach activities within an NGO environment in adherence to international and national Child protection standards and Hope for Justice Standard Operating Procedures for Outreach.
The Outreach Officer will be responsible for reaching out to female victims of commercial sexual exploitation in the project areas, raising awareness of HFJ services, linking victims to service providers inclusive of HFJ Lighthouses while adhering to the National Home Rules for Children’s Homes.
This work will be done with and through relevant government structures.
The key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Conduct day and night outreaches to child victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking.
Identify and rescue female victims of commercial sexual
exploitation and trafficking.
Engage with the local community and build relationships with them for sustainable rescues.
Coordinate with police, PSWOs and partner organisations to ensure that victims of CSEC access to needed services.
Participate in child care review (as appropriate) with HFJ staff and propose appropriate interventions for individual children & provide case consultation.
Collect data and maintain updated records/registers of female survivors.
Compile regular, accurate and timely progress reports in compliance with the donor requirements.
Participate in project learning and evaluation activities.
Required Qualifications
A degree in a relevant field, preferably social work, psychology, sociology, education or other relevant fields.
Experience in conducting outreach/rescue activities especially of victims of modern slavery.
Demonstrated understanding of the importance of attachment theory to relationship building with
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of pillars of child protection and multi-disciplinary teamwork.
Ability to facilitate training sessions in life skills.
Experience of working alongside government officials, NGOs and other key stakeholders
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel)
