High Commission of Canada Senior Development Officer - Somalia Jobs in Kenya


Anticipatory - a pool of successful candidates may be created for other similar positions in either indeterminate, term or emergency contracts. This position is a LES (Locally Engaged Staff) position, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in Kenya.

Responsibilities

  • Under the general direction of the Development Counsellor (Head of Cooperation) and working with the team at the High Commission of Canada and at Global Affairs Canada (GAC) Headquarters in Ottawa, assists in the identification, development and implementation of Official Development Assistance (ODA) Programmes at the mission for Somalia; including identifying, assessing and negotiating new projects; managing and administering humanitarian, bilateral development and multilateral projects; conducting analysis of local needs and context; and performing other duties, including representation of the High Commission and Development Programs at events, conferences and meetings.

    Requirements

  • Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
  • Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary
    institution
  • Proficiency in English – (reading, writing, comprehension and speaking)
  • Minimum 5 years of recent* experience involved in the design and implementation of international projects including management of financial aspects.
  • Experience in the design, assessment and implementation of international development and/or humanitarian programs and projects in Somalia.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working for an international donor.
  • Experience organizing and overseeing visits and events for high-level government officials.
    *Recent is defined as within the last 10 years.
