    Job Summary

    HIAS is an international non-profit organization with a vision for a world in which refugees find welcome, safety and freedom.

    HIAS operation in Kenya was established in 2002 with the mission to serve the most vulnerable refugees through community based protection including resilience, protection, economic inclusion and provision of durable solutions.

    The job holder contributes towards meeting the resettlement departmental overall goal which is the promotion of resettlement as a durable solution to the most at risk population through client care and processing of resettlement cases.

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual comprehensive physical case files for clients, complete intake forms and ensure proper filing of individual case files for resettlement consideration.
  • Preparing submission forms and photos for the process of submission of cases to Australian, Canadian and the US embassies.
  • Reporting to the Resettlement Officer progress of set indicators on a bi weekly basis
  • Conduct individual counselling to clients on the HIAS internal resettlement process and HIAS anti-fraud policy.
  • Attend case counselling sessions for individual clients with the aim of providing clients with timely and accurate feedback on the status of their cases.
  • Preparing training materials and conducting research on resettlement and anti-fraud.
  • Prepare Resettlement Referral Forms and send to the Resettlement Manager/Officer for review.
  • Conduct
    follow up for cases referred to external referral partners and provide timely updates on the status of the follow ups.
  • Fill in the various resettlement forms.
  • Maintain a database and an individual case management strategy for cases under resettlement consideration.
  • Assist in the development of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials on anti-fraud and resettlement case processing.
  • Perform other duties as and when required to.

    Job Specifications:
  • University Degree in Law, International Studies and/or related studies.

    Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in English and Swahili
  • Computer literacy a must - knowledge of MS Office required;
  • Strong advocacy, research, capacity building, analytical and report writing skills;
  • Strong coordination, communication and interpersonal skills;
