HIAS Refugee Trust of Kenya CFS Facilitators Jobs in Kenya; HIAS seeks to recruit 2 Child Friendly Space (CFS) Facilitators who will provide creative engagement for children beneficiaries. They will facilitate access and ensure overall smooth functioning of the space. They will be responsible for the well-being of the children under their care. They must always supervise the children to ensure that they play and interact with one another in a safe and appropriate manner. The duties also include coming up with creative and stimulating activities and maintaining a clean and child-friendly environment. The Child Friendly Space Facilitators should promote fair play, collaboration, and critical thinking. HIAS is looking to recruit CFS Facilitators residing in Kawangware and its environs.
Essential Functions Ensure a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the Child Friendly Space
Ensure the availability of a variety of games and activities within the Child Friendly Space, catering to the needs of children of different ages, genders, and abilities.
Ensure that children have good hygiene.
Ensure that children feel comfortable, safe, and respected.
Clean interactive areas throughout the day
Keep records of each child’s progress, interests and any problems that may occur and report to CFS supervisor or Child Protection Coordinator (CPC)
Use a wide range of teaching methods (storytelling, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc.) to enhance children’s abilities.
Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments.
Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identifying shapes, numbers, or colors, do crafts etc.)
Collaborate with other colleagues.
Qualifications:
Experience
working with children between 3 to 6 years old.
Experience in community mobilization.
Cross-cultural awareness and flexibility
Excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages.
Advanced multitasking and organizational skills to handle multiple children at a time.
Excellent communication and instructional skills (Congolese/ Sudanese/ Burundian or Swahili)
Ability to act as mediator between children.
Ability to work on own initiative and at the same time as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
Willingness to be trained in safeguarding of children and sign HIAS Safeguarding of Children policy.
Flexibility, and love for children
Methodical and creative
Well organized and efficient
Good report writing skills and keeping attendance.
Excellent knowledge of child development methods
Strong communication and time management skills
Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for CFS
Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP)
Knowledge of Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) will be an added advantage.
Proficiency in English or Kiswahili and other languages spoken within the Congolese. Burundian or Sudanese communities eg: Kirundi, French, Arabic, Nuer, Tigrinya etc.
