HFC Senior Database Administrator Jobs in Kenya


Introduction

HFC Limited, an integrated property and financial solutions provider has an exciting opportunity in our ICT Division.

Responsibilities

  • Configuration, day-to-day management, integrity, tuning and security of the entire bank’s databases, backup and storage systems. Resolution of any incidents, problems and upgrades in line with best practice standards and agreed service level agreements.
  • Design, develop and maintain the various artifacts required to manage Databases, Backups and Storage solutions; these include but not limited to architecture diagrams, operational manuals, business continuity procedures, and patch management processes.
  • The design/analysis, development, delivery and ongoing improvement of the bank’s databases and backup systems along ITIL and other best practice standards.
  • Oversee and manage junior database administrators or any external parties providing technical support for Database, Storage and Backup solutions.
  • Apply knowledge and experience, showing deep understanding of HFC’s technology architecture to effectively design and integrate new service lifecycle artifacts.
  • Effective management of relationships and protocols with other technical platform owners and internal business owners, especially within the context of bank projects and system/process changes.

    Qualifications

  • An IT related degree from a reputable institution.
  • Certification in database systems: Oracle or Sybase.
  • Minimum of 5yrs experience in Database Administration and specifically Oracle, Sybase and SAP Hana.
  • At least 7 years' experience in supporting IT systems in general.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in installing, setup, support and troubleshooting modern database systems with at least 4 years on Oracle and three years on MS-SQL in a high availability environment
  • At least 4 years’ experience in Storage and Backup management, working in UNIX and windows environment.
  • Thorough experience in formal Software Lifecycle methodology, design and administration of RBMSs.
  • Experience in Sybase (or SAP Hanna) will be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in project management and ITIL.
