Context Analysis
HI has identified the need for a volunteer to work with the Inclusive Employment project in Nairobi Kenya.
Project Specific Objective:
The inclusive employment project provides a fellowship experience for mid-level
professionals from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania who are promoting employment of people with disabilities, with an aim to build their skills and in doing so economically empower people with disabilities.
General Objective of the Volunteership
The volunteer shall support in:
Archiving in soft copy, all participants list for outreach/ seminars/trainings and
community dialogues.
Participating in beneficiary selection
Participating in weekly coordination meetings with implementing partners
Representing HI in stakeholder meetings
Participating in the assessment of gaps and needs in the sector of intervention and
exchange information with the Project manager
Expected Outcomes
The volunteer will have learned about the organization and the operations of the
inclusive employment project
He / she will gain experience on project management
He/she will have gained skills in report writing
He/she will have gained experience on database management
He/she will have gained experience on inclusive employment for people with disabilities in Kenya, Uganda & Tanzania
Monthly feedback report submitted to Project manager on 2nd day of every month
Final volunteer period report
Duration and Location of the Volunteership
The volunteership is for a period of three (3) months renewable for a further three months
subject to performance.
He/she will only be receiving a daily meal and transport allowance of Kshs. 800 per working day
( Monday to Friday) subject to statutory deductions, paid once a month in advance.
The volunteer will be based in Nairobi.
Requirements for the Volunteer
Holder of or currently a bachelor’s degree in relevant social sciences from a recognized
institution.
Ready to gain hands on experience for at least 3 months
A letter of recommendation from previous positions (internships, volunteer work etc)
Computer and internet literate
Should be a team player and have the ability to multitask
Other Requirements
Should be available for at least 3 months
Open to learning and can work with minimum supervision.
Passionate about working with people with disabilities
Should have good organisation skills
The Volunteer is to comply with the Staff regulations for HI –TUK Programme
