  • Kakuma refugee camp is a complex humanitarian setting where partners collaborate in addressing the multifaceted needs of refugees. A diverse array of organizations, both international and local, work together to provide essential services and support. This co-creation workshop convenes partners like; UNHCR which plays a major role in coordinating the overall refugee response, providing protection and assistance, UNICEF which focuses on the well-being of children, ensuring access to education, healthcare, and protection. Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) which is involved in providing education, and livelihoods support, Lutheran World Federation (LWF) which supports education and livelihoods, Humanity & Inclusion specializes in disability inclusion, ensuring that persons with disabilities have equal access to services, Film Aid Kenya that leverages the power of media to educate and empower refugees. Cohere which contributes to capacity building of refugee led organizations, Refugee-led organizations, often with limited resources but deep understanding of community needs, are vital to the ecosystem. Their grassroots approach complements the work of larger organizations.

  • This intricate network of partners and stakeholders, each with its specific mandate and strengths, contributes to a more comprehensive and effective response to the needs of refugees in Kakuma and more so by involving refugees with lived experience who play a vital role in shaping and implementing projects in Kakuma. Through their first-hand knowledge and experiences inform the design and execution of programs, ensuring they are relevant and effective.

    Description of the Required Service Provision

    Beneficiary/Beneficiaries
  • This service will benefit all the organizations who will participate in the co-creation workshop. These organizations include the donor, HI, LWF, COHERE, NRC, FAK, UNICEF UNHCR, RLOs among other.

    Overall Goal
  • To provide comprehensive documentation of the co-creation workshop, facilitating knowledge sharing, and supporting the development of key outputs that contribute to the improvement of program implementation for partners and stakeholders.

    Specific Goals
  • Document the key
    discussions, decisions, and outcomes of the workshop, including plenary sessions, group discussions, and breakout activities.
  • Analyse and synthesize information gathered from various sources to identify emerging themes, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the creation of a high-quality learning paper, a set of actionable learning questions, and a revised theory of change.
  • Support the dissemination of workshop findings and recommendations among partners and stakeholders.

    CONSULTANT’S PROFILE
  • Training, experience, references and grade required for each expert
  • Proven experience in report writing and documentation: Should be able to demonstrate with evidence ability to produce clear, concise, and informative reports within tight deadlines.
  • Data analysis and synthesis skills: Capacity to analyse qualitative data to extract key findings and insights.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles and refugee contexts: should be able to demonstrate understanding of the challenges faced by refugees and the role of humanitarian organizations and translate the implementation of such in the theory of change.
  • Experience in participatory methodologies: Should demonstrate familiarity with co-creation workshops and other participatory approaches.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills: should demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

    Academic Qualifications;
  • Bachelors degree in Sociology, education, anthropology, political science or development studies.
  • A post graduate degree in a related field would be an advantage especially if it involves research, data management or report writing.
