Job Context:HI has been implementing development and humanitarian interventions in Ethiopia since 1986. Since April 2018, the Somalia program is part of the Ethiopia-Somalia program (EthioSom)
The HI EthioSom program is currently implementing 20 projects in various sectors of interventions, including Inclusive Humanitarian Action, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Protection, Physical and Functional Rehabilitation, Livelihood and Education.
Since 2021, the program has been responding to the current crisis in Northern Ethiopia, with new bases in Tigray and Afar. In Somalia, the program is intervening in Somaliland – with a coordination base in Hargeisa – but also in Mogadishu.
With an average yearly budget of 8 million EUR, the program is expanding based on its 3-years operational strategy and switching from chronic crisis responses to more emergency responses, in order to meet the needs of the most vulnerable and especially people with specific needs. Among the main donors for HI operations, we have ECHO, BHA, PRM, CDCS, EHF, MoFA Luxembourg and GFFO.
HI in Ethiopia is looking for a Chief of Party for 12 months.
Your Missions:Under the supervision of the Program Director, as Chief of Party, you will be responsible to coordinate a consortium with IMC and MTI to implement a project funded by ECHO for 13 Months in Tigray and Amhara – regions affected by the conflict with access, security and implementation challenges.
It is a 13 months project, ending end of January 2023 and led by HI. However, considering the current situation and implementation constraints as well as the huge and urgent needs in the areas of intervention, it is plan to extend the project with ECHO financial support.
Mission 1 : Management
Responsibility 1 : Be the manager (direct report) of the project team
Responsibility 2 : Contribute to steering organization transformation, in particular through managerial and work practice change and continuous improvement of working processes
Mission 2: Standards and expertise
Mission 3: Operational management
Responsibility 1 : Ensures the proper implementation of the project, in collaboration with the consortium member organizations, relevant services and in line with general standards and procedures
Responsibility 2 : Ensures data management of the project
Responsibility 3
: Coordination & partnership management
Mission 4 : Influence, communication and advocacy
Responsibility 1: Develops HI's external influence (forums, operational & strategic alliances, etc.) and the organization's external representation (events, media) in its area of responsibility.
Mission 5 : Emergency Preparedness and Response Responsibilities
Your Profile:You hold a Master’s degree in project management, ideally in public health
You have 4 years of experience in project management in emergency setting with an INGO
You master practices in project planning, monitoring, coordination and reporting
You have already developed a project in consortium and managed operational partnerships
You are fluent in English (oral and written communication)
You show very good organizational and coordination skills
You are autonomous and able to mobilize partners
Characteristics of the Position:
Project visits in the field (in Tigray) will most probably not be possible.

12 months renewable International contract starting from December 2022

Pension scheme adapted to the situation of our employees: If you already have a personal pension scheme HI will contribute at the same level of your personal monthly contribution with a maximum of 272.53€/month ;
If you do not have a personal pension scheme, we will open a private pension account with your contribution of 272.53€/month and a contribution of HI of the same amount
Medical coverage with 50% of employee contribution
Repatriation insurance paid by HI
Salary from 2869 € gross/month upon experience
Perdiem: 650 € net/month - paid in the field
Paid leaves: 25 days per year;
R&R: 1 day per month + possible transport/package support.
Position open to couples or families
Support travel costs (air ticket & visa) for accompanying dependent and health/ repatriation insurance if the dependent has no income
A child allowance of 100€ per month, per child (from the second child) paid in the field
Family-wide health coverage
Housing: individual taken in charge by HI
