The opportunity has arisen to appoint an outstanding and inspirational practitioner who has the drive and ability to inspire our students to their best. We are looking for a dynamic Director of PE who is able to deliver the PE curriculum across both the Junior and Senior School. The Physical Education programme plays a key role in this busy boarding and day school with the vast majority of students taking part in extra-curricular activities. Greensteds International School boasts some of the best sporting facilities in Kenya including a 10 lane athletics track, outdoor swimming pool and a range of stunning pitches for cricket, rounders, hockey, football and rugby. The ability to offer BTEC PE will be highly advantageous.
Qualification
At least a Bachelor’s Degree in PE (BSc. /B.Ed. PE) or related field and a teaching qualification.
Experience in teaching the National Curriculum of England and Wales.
Have or apply for an ICPC or Good Conduct Certificate
Willingness to contribute fully to the boarding and extracurricular life of a busy, full boarding school.

Introduction:
This is a leadership post within the Junior School’s management structure. The post holder will ensure the smooth running of the Key Stage and will contribute to, and at times lead, initiatives to further develop the school’s academic and pastoral provision
Job Purpose:
The essential quality of a School/Key Stage leader is to provide all teachers with an example which demonstrates the commitment and professionalism required to achieve excellence and school improvement.This includes:
Organising and implementing the curriculum and assessment measures;
Monitoring and evaluating standards of teaching and learning;
Organising and managing day-to-day procedures to facilitate the smooth running of the Key Stage;
Contributing to professional development reviews;
Promoting and exemplifying a well-organised and stimulating learning environment within the Key Stage
Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning:
Overseeing planning & preparation of schemes of work and lessons and the marking of pupils’ work.
Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils in the Key Stage.
Preparing pupils for examinations, supervising examinations, interpreting and reporting on results.
Organizing, minuting and attending Key Stage meetings as required.
Advising and working with the Head of Junior School, and other colleagues, on the preparation and development of resources, courses, teaching methods, assessments, reports and SEN support arrangements. Pupil & Curriculum Management
Promoting the general progress and well-being of pupils and communicating with parents and key members of staff in the School’s pastoral structure.
Working with Key Stage staff to set and track pupil progress.
Ensuring that pupils receive their entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum. Assisting the Head of Junior School in curriculum and timetabling reviews.
Ensuring that
the school’s assessment policy is implemented and that the assessment carried out across the Key Stage informs pupils’ personalised educational programme, based on their needs.
Coordinating a team of teachers and teaching assistants to ensure continuity and progression of the curriculum.
Contributing to SEF sections and School Development Plans as required.
Liaising with other schools regarding courses and overseeing CPD for the staff working in the Key Stage.
Leading & Enhancing Teaching Practice:
To participate in, and lead, curriculum development initiatives as required.
To analyse and report & act on data from the Key Stage.
To attend Leadership meetings as required.
To contribute to Governor meeting reports as required.
To monitor the quality of teaching & learning, both individually and collaboratively, and provide feedback to staff as appropriate.
To performance manage teaching staff as directed by the Head of Junior School.
Budget Accountability:
The post holder will agree a budget, planned in line with operational and developmental needs, with the Head of Junior School to meet teaching & learning resources needs.
Establishing a key public relations role, building contacts and liaising with schools and other appropriate organisations for the Foundation Stage.
Liaising with the Head of Junior School, Senior School management and staff, the School Nurse and other employees, as appropriate, in supporting the Foundation Stage pupils and staff.
Advising and supporting the Head of Junior School on wider Junior School matters as and when the need arises.
