Job DescriptionGreen Way Farms is currently seeking a professional, high-performance individual to serve as Finance Officer in the company’s Addis Ababa office.
This individual will have the unique opportunity to help shape the future of a young, environmentally and socially-conscious agribusiness in Ethiopia, one of Africa’s most promising economies.
Ideal candidates have experience in administrative positions, possess basic computer skills, and are eager to join and support the Green Way Farms team.
BackgroundGreen Way Farms is a socially-oriented agribusiness that produces organic produce in an environmentally-sustainable, organic manner in conjunction with a network of smallholder farmers.
The company currently operates from its Butajira Production Area with a team of 70 staff and 100+ Partner Farmers. Green Way maintains a facility (the Farmer Service Center) with a cold store, nursery, and packhouse in Butajira, SNNPR. The company exports regularly to Amsterdam, London, and Dubai.
As a young, but growing company, GreenPath will develop new facilities and expand to at least one new production areas in the next 9 months with a vision to become East Africa’s largest organic specialty food company.
This position may have the opportunity to establish and run the company's new nursery site as it expands.
The Senior Staff at the organization are a group of highly talented professionals with experience in Ethiopian export horticulture, and agricultural development sectors, as well as direct experience in the Ethiopian start-up context.
Each member of the team has a passion for improving the lives of smallholder farmers and increasing access to organically and sustainably grown, high-nutritious foods, and is committed to seeing the company realize its core objectives.
Mission of RoleTo support the company’s core mission by proactively assisting with and flexibly leading a variety of company logistics, procurement, and administrative support needs, as required.
Responsibilities & OutcomesGreenPath is a growing startup that requires flexibility and leadership from its team members. As a result, all GreenPath team members are expected to provide active support across departments and initiatives.
In addition to other occasional responsibilities and special projects, the key activities and corresponding outcomes for this role include:
ActivitiesOutcome
FinanceLead select financial documentation and invoicing, as needed
All company finances are maintained and orderly, payments are made and received on time, and no related task causes delays in operations or prevent completion of activities
Support bookkeeping and data entry, as needed
All company finances are up to date in Peachtree on a weekly basis, and all monthly financial statements are produced within 5 days of the end of the month
Manage payments and receipt issue, as needed
All company finances are maintained and orderly, payments are made and received on time, and no related task causes delays in operations or prevent completion of activities
Support the finance team with basic errands and tasks, as needed - including cash collection, payments, invoice delivery, etc.

Administration
Support the administrative team with basic errands and tasks for the Senior Team, as needed - including small purchases, document drop-offs, signature collections, bookings, etc.

Other
Proactively identify and/or execute other support needs, as required
The Addis team has the timely support it needs to execute the company’s mission; No task related to this position causes delays or prevention of operations being completed on schedule
Occasionally represent the company to external stakeholders and/or service providers, as requested by Executive Management
When required to represent the company, external stakeholders view their interactions as professional and positive and interactions result successful outcomes for the company
Job Requirements
Required Experiences/Skills
Fluency in English and Amharic
Undergraduate degree
Flexible attitude and willingness to support diversity of activities and functions
Demonstrated pro-activity and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills
Familiar using accounting platforms
Potential to grow into a larger finance role in the future
Compensation
Compensation will include a monthly salary competitive with local market rates for relevant work
Reporting
The position reports to the Finance & Administration Manager
