Summary The role is a hands-on role providing core support and management services for the Corporate network and Data Centre facilities.
The Senior Network Engineer is typically assigned to deploy administer, maintain communications system to ensure smooth Network Operations.
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for organization’s switching, routing, billing, mediation and charging systems, data storage, the application of Network security and disaster recovery strategies to ensure Service Assurance and sustainability.
The Post Holder will provide the reporting function to maintain robust operational and reporting requirements to provide accurate and meaningful insight on a timely, consistent and user-friendly basis.
Primary Objectives
Responsible for Data Centre operations and network operations (security and availability).
To foster a strong work ethic, operational disciplines and to develop the advanced levels of competency needed to deliver high levels of network and Data Centre availability.
To provide support for strategic planning in terms of best practice, cost management, potential products/services and application of emerging technologies.
Description
Principal Accountabilities
Management of Data Centre infrastructure (power, cooling and physical access).
Design and implementation of the processes, procedures and operational management associated with Data Centre security and business continuity.
Data Centre documentation and policy creation and management.
Defining and monitoring contractual obligations, performance delivery and service level agreements.
Maintenance of professional standards of Data Centres facilities (cleanliness, rack security, shared consoles and keyboards).
Support of Infrastructure and Network Services.
Capacity planning.
Planning, procurement, designing, developing, configuring and commissioning networks and associated systems for network monitoring and incident management.
Network documentation and policy design/compliance.
Analyzing, evaluating and monitoring network infrastructure to ensure networks are configured to operate at optimal performance.
Troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems and determining the most appropriate means of resolving problems and issues to improve network performance.
To take full responsibility for configuration changes introduced to the network and to keep the resource HW / SW configurations and status under control.
Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade Corporate Routers, LAN, Switches and inhouse Servers.
To contribute in the creation and improvements to procedures and routines within the department.
Monitor Network performance for Availability, Utilization, Throughput and Latency.
Set up User Accounts, permissions and passwords and define network policies.
Specify system requirements and design solutions.
Take control of the IP Network and decide next milestone to proceed to.
Co-ordinate works on capacity expansion by 3rd Level Candidates (Equipment Supplier).
Produce relevant report for Network Incidences/Outages.
Perform preventive maintenance and routine activities such as system backup, health check on regular basis.
Network planning with Cisco, Juniper, Huawei and other vendor products (Routers/Switches, firewall).
Prepare Network planning and High-Level Design of the Network.
Provide expert analysis and sound interpretation of Data, and expert advice on the possibilities and limitations of the available data, personally guiding and influencing strategic decision-making forums.
Support institution-wide strategic projects through the gathering and presentation appropriate management information and KPIs.
Enable and promote a culture of evidence-based enquiry and business intelligence.
Provide on-the-job training and guidance to colleagues in specific data-related tasks where appropriate.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Research and development of new products and service relevant to areas of responsibility.
Business case development and evaluation in support of proposed initiatives in conjunction with the line managers.
Strategic and Tactical planning and budget development for data centre and network operations in conjunction with line managers.
On-time reporting to direct Line Manager.
Work on tasks assigned by Line Manager.

Certified Cisco Network Associate (ccna)
Bachelor Of Computer Science
Cisco
Certicate In Cisco
Bachelor Of Computer Engineering
Lan
Extensive Knowledge in configuration and troubleshooting LAN/WAN, Routers/Switches are Mandatory.
CCNA, CCNP and CCIE.

Have 8+ years of experience in Operation and Maintenance in a Telecom environment with a focus on network management.
Experience in network design.
Design and implementation experience for change, incident and problem management
Solid understanding and experience of network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS)

Professional/Technical
Ability to understand support required for a Telecom infrastructure from an IP perspective.
Good / excellent knowledge of the Network management system functionality and use of applications related to the work area (surveillance, analysis, configuration, trouble administration etc.).
Good knowledge of network implementation / integration processes.
Senior level hands-on skills (switching and routing).
Network analysis and design skills.
Understanding and experience with: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS.
Network Monitoring Concepts.
Traffic management and measurement concepts.
Authentication systems using RADIUS, TACACS, etc.
Connectivity technologies (DSL, SHDSL, FIBRE, FRAME, ATM).
VoIP understanding and experience.
Experience on Cisco and Juniper based Routers/Switches, and Network Security platform.
Familiar with IP Planning on Telecom/ISP-based Networks like CS/PS Core, MPLS Backbone.
Experience with call and fault tracing and fault fixing.
Overall administration of firewall, Networks, Switches and Routers.
Firewall concepts.
Penetration testing & intrusion detection concepts.
Cybersecurity concepts.
VPN Management and Optimization.
Network Asset Management.
VMware vSphere or similar experience.
Experience with VMWare ESX/ESXi networking.
Experience with and understanding of enterprise cloud technologies and the associated applications.
Understanding of Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization.
Experience with SAN and NAS technologies.
Experience with Fiber Channel and iSCSI SAN protocols.
Linux Systems Administration skills.
Windows Systems Administration skills.
Be able to produce lengthy and often complicated reports accurately and efficiently in short turnaround times.
An advanced user of Office Suite in general or similar products.
Experience with office 365 exchange online.
Strong level of ability to interpret, explain and represent data as useful management information.
Strong level of oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate complex information to non-expert users and stakeholders.
Must have excellent working knowledge and understanding of the environment in which the specific data is produced especially in relation to GSM.
Good understanding of traffic flows for signaling, MAP messages, voice, data and SIP messages.
Ability to manage a diverse and rapidly workloads.
