We are one of the two RIG approved auditors in Ethiopia to audit USAID resources throughout Africa and our quality control procedures were considered robust by other donors as well including the World Bank, European Commission, BFW...etc.

Job Summary:

The auditor has a general responsibility to perform tasks assigned to him in relation to the firm’s quality management activities as required by International Standards on Quality Management 1(ISQM1).

Main Responsibility:

Work with the Ethics leader on monitoring of the firm’s and its personnel compliance with the International Federation of Accountants Code of Ethics including Grant Thornton's independence requirements,

Work with the Ethics leader and Quality Control Leader to ensure all client acceptance and continuance procedures are in line with the firm’s policies and procedures,

Work with the firm’s risk and legal department to ensure the firm’s compliance with member firm obligations,

Check whether proper audit planning and risk assessment has been performed for the engagement,

Check whether proper time budget has been set for the engagement

Check planned audit procedures have been performed and necessary reviews have been performed and documented in a timely manner,

Work with the quality control partner to confirm whether the audit files are completed in accordance with the firm’s audit methodology,

Work with the quality control partner to confirm whether appropriate audit tools have been used for

the engagement,

Check whether there was a proper follow up over the planned time budget, whether the planned time budget has been met and client’s expectation has been satisfied,

Check all reports required at the reporting and communication stage of the engagement have been prepared and documented in a timely manner,

Check all concluding activities have been performed as required by the concluding stage of the engagement,

Check the required engagement appraisals have been performed and documented,
Work with the quality control partner to ensure all audit files are archived in a timely manner as required by the firm’s policies and procedures,

Work with firm’s people and culture on annual training need assessment, developing annual training plan, and follow up over implementation of the training plans,

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Required

BA or MA in Accounting and Finance.

Minimum of seven years of practical experience in External Auditing

ACCA certification is preferable and advantageous

Ability and Skill Required

Knowledge of accounting principles.

Able to work multiple tasks efficiently and meet tight deadlines.

Team spirit/working in a team.

Interpersonal communication and negotiations skills.

Computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheets and word-processing programs.

Disciplined, organized.

Open-minded, self-learner.
