As the official representation of Switzerland, the Embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Kenya, as well as between Switzerland and Burundi, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda. The Embassy represents Swiss interests in the areas of political, economic and financial affairs, science, education and culture. It delivers consular services to citizens of Switzerland and other countries and implements the cooperation strategy for the Horn of Africa.
For the Operations Management Division, responsible for Finance, Personnel and Administration of the Embassy, we are looking for a Finance Controller. He/she is working on all financial aspects of International cooperation projects (Development and Humanitarian Aid), reporting to the Chief Finance, Personnel and Administration (CFPA). This position entails occasional travels within Kenya, Somalia and other countries of the Horn of Africa.
Main Tasks:
Control of budgets, interim and final accounts and review of external audit reports;
Carry out or support in partner risk assessments together with (National) Programme Officer (N)PO, with a focus on assessment of internal governance, internal control system, financial management, procurement and HR-management of new partner organizations;
Define support and mitigation measures based on partner risk assessments and audits and assure a regular follow-up on their implementation through projects and partner visits;
Creation and management of contracts according to the guidelines of the head office;
Maintenance and assurance of data quality in project and contract management;
Examine and process disbursement orders to project partners in close collaboration with responsible programme officers;
Support in the awarding/procurement of services (tender);
Support/coach/train (N)PO and partner organisations in financial management and monitoring of financial/administration aspects incl. ICS;
Other tasks according to line manager and supervisors
Professional qualifications and experience:
Master’s degree in business administration or equivalent;
Professional Accountancy Qualification CPA, ACCA;
Minimum 5 years of experience in project management support and project finances;
Minimum 5 years of experience with an international NGO or donor agency;
Knowledge in internal control system (ICS);
Perfectly fluent in English, written and spoken;
Perfect computer skills, including MS
Office applications, especially Excel;
Knowledge in SAP and further accounting softwares is an added value

Duty station is Nairobi with sporadic travels to Somalia (applicant must be in possession of a valid working permit for Kenya).
