Job Title:
  • Web developer

    Duty Station:
  • Kampala, Uganda

    We currently have a vacancy for honest, self-driven, passionate and results oriented website developer to be responsible for innovative design and development of our websites

    Duties and Experience

  • Design responsive websites using content management systems (WordPress)
  • Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling sites
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
  • Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
  • Design systems using php, JavaScript
  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities
  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases

    Position Requirements
  • Proven working experience in web programming
  • Top-notch programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS
  • Familiarity with the following programming languages: PHP, JavaScript
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
  • Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development
  • Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process
  • Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets
    with business acumen
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.
  • Ability to use code versioning tools e.g git
  • Strong attention to details
  • Demonstrated understanding of projects from the perspective of both client and business
  • Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Bsc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience in web development
