Global Health Corps is a leadership development organization that offers a yearlong paid multidisciplinary fellowship for emerging leaders, ages 21-30, through partnership with nonprofits and government agencies on the front lines of health, in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and the US.
The Resource Mobilization Officer will help to develop, improve, and expand the organization’s positive impact on underserved communities by increasing the efficacy of the health programs of the Foundation for Community Development and Empowerment’s (FCDE) community partners in Uganda.
The Resource Mobilization Officer will be responsible for technically supporting local partner organizations (LPOs) to deliver quality services by conducting research on funding prospects and supporting them to effectively write grants focusing on health and HIV/AIDS programs.
This position will assist LPOs to understand the nuances of resource mobilization, including developing positive relationships with donors or potential partners and refining proposal writing approaches.
The Resource Mobilization Officer will be a part of the dynamic FCDE team and will work closely with all staff. This might look like working with the Resource Center Managers to find relevant funding opportunities and conduct trainings or assisting the Grants Committee to review FCDE’s seed grant proposals.
Responsibilities:
Support LPOs to increase their funding base through grant writing, partnership building, and robust in-kind community support so that they can more effectively implement projects
Support the FCDE in-country team to develop at least two proposals for larger funding opportunities
Collaborate with Resource Center Managers to conduct research and identify funding opportunities for LPOs implementing health programs
Support LPO’s fundraising efforts by reviewing and providing comments/guidance to LPOs external and FCDE grant proposals.
Work with the FCDE Grants Committee to refine the grants process and act as a bridge between the Committee and the LPOs in order to support understanding and skill building
Work with the Project Management Officer and FCDE Team to ensure proper alignment between project design and management and project proposal writing and submission
As relevant, provide training and skill building to the FCDE team on grant writing and proposal development
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree*
Experience writing grant proposals, ideally with a proven track record of securing funding*
Experience with prospect research and/or fundraising information sources like Guidestar or the Foundation Center*
Experience in building relationships with partners and donors*
Experience working in a developing country, preferably
in Africa
Proven training and facilitation skills
Understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes and/or budgeting as they relate to project design
Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to ensure internal and external collaborators achieve a time-bound goal or project
Ability to get things done
Open mind, new ideas, and a passion for global health
Capacity to handle the challenges associated with living and working in a foreign environment
Comfort in speaking publicly as well as the ability to hold an audience, making information fun and engaging
Ability to undertake regular field visits to rural communities
Excellent oral and written communication skills; effective inter-personally
Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, fast-paced team
Ability to work to work under minimum supervision and within tight deadlines
