Girls Leading Our World Initiatives Communications Assistant: Intern Opportunities in Kenya
BackgroundGirls Leading Our World Initiatives (iGLOW) is an NGO with offices in Kenya and the US. iGLOW’s main goal is to promote development through eliminating barriers in rural girls’ education. We strive to reach and serve the poorest, hardest to reach and most at risk marginalized rural girls.
Key Tasks;
Travel frequently to field projects site to pro-actively and re-actively obtain and pitch resources. Gather and prepare communication materials for input into the document management software and online photo and video databases (photos, video footage, stories, quotes, programme updates, reports, interviews).
Gather and prepare fundraising materials e.g web articles
Conduct interviews with IGLOW beneficiaries and stakeholders and document success stories and lessons learnt
Coordinate the collection of materials and data needed for the production of IGLOW’s Annual Report.
Required Skills and Experience
Exceptional writing skills
Ability to implement communications and publications strategies
Ability to perform a wide range of varied, inter-related complex services
Ability to extract, interpret and analyze data and resolve operational problems
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Ability to plan and organize work
Communicates sensitively and
effectively across different constituencies
Demonstrates strong IT skills
Required Skills and Experience:
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) - in media relations, journalism, publishing, public relations, communications or equivalent;
(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) - in media relations, journalism, publishing, public relations, communications or equivalent;
(c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above)
