Who We AreGirl Effect is a creative non-profit empowering girls to change their lives. We work across the world in places where girls are marginalised and vulnerable.
We create youth brands and mobile platforms for young people in ways that they love and interact with.
We deliver these through the media and mobile tech that we use every day - from apps that build skills to TV dramas they explore virtual issues, to magazines written by girls. In Ethiopia, we have created and run the brand Yegna which has been working to empower girls for 7 years through radio drama, music & more recently TV drama and digital platforms.
Context of the Role
The Senior Manager, Program Development will work on core aspects of our work including fundraising, program design, and identifying and developing partnerships.
You will work closely with both the programs and fundraising team. You will develop and deliver a series of partnerships within the development sector to help Yegna maintain its national reach, deepen its impact with youth audiences, and build towards a sustainable future.
An important aspect of the role is working with government, developing relationships and liaising with partners to build the strength of the Yegna brand and its impact within the Ethiopian context.
What You’ll Do
The Senior Manager will lead Girl Effect Ethiopia’s stakeholder engagement strategy for its youth media brand Yegna.
You will be tasked with building partnerships with key institutions (including bilateral donors, multilateral organisations, government ministries, INGO and civil society organisations) in Ethiopia to extend the reach, impact and sustainability of Girl Effect Ethiopia’s youth culture brand - YEGNA.
You will also support the Girl Effect global team when they lead on the design of multi-country programs that include Ethiopia.
Key responsibilities will require skills
in:
Opportunity Identification
Identifying possible partners to forge partnerships with and proactively pursuing opportunities for high impact.
Communications
Excellent communication and outreach skills: a strong presenter who can achieve high-level buyin for objectives and rally partners for support.
Stakeholder Engagement Management
Experience negotiating multi-stakeholder partnerships through a variety of different development finance mechanisms.
Programme Design
Experience designing programmes based on evidence, building detailed budgets, and operational implementation plans for complex development programs.
Writing grant proposals
Excellent proposal writing skills working in English language and built on evidence.

Job Requirements
Qualifications
BA degree in a relevant field of study.
Preferably with a Masters degree but not mandatory.
8 years of Experience in Program development, Monitoring and evaluation, fundraising or stakeholder management.
