GIBB Engineering and Architecture Design Engineer - Kwazulu Natal Jobs in South Africa

Core Purpose

Represent the Employer’s Agent to the extent of his/her delegated responsibilities and keep the Employer’s Agent fully informed at all times. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with the Contractor’s Representative. Liaise with Client Representative / Project Manager and manage the relationship. Ensure that procedures and systems outlined in GIBB’s site specific Project Plan are put into place and run effectively

Key Performance Areas

Assist the RE with all duties during the contraction supervision and defects liability periods

Together with the RE ensure that the contractor is fully appraised of technical, social, environmental, health and safety responsibilities and assist with monitoring the same

Inspect all works in progress to ensure the quality of the works and compliance with the contract documents

Record, report and propose actions to redress poor workmanship and defects

Review and verify the qualifications of the proposed key personnel of the contractor and make the necessary recommendations

Verify that the Contractors use the testing equipment in accordance with the approved standards and international best practice

Evaluate work in progress and propose changes in the works based on the field conditions

Prepare discipline-specific daily site dairy

Verify that the Contractor prepares and submits certified work as executed with records and plans of the completed works

Review the quality of all material, plant and equipment supplied by the Contractor

Review Contractor’s Claims and issues against construction records and daily site diary records

Assist the RE with the production of monthly reports, progress payments, the extension of time and claim reports

Manage the duties of staff within appropriate the Discipline specific management team

Initiate action to prevent product/process non-conformance, including issuing NCOs and/or CARs to Contractors if required

Review Hold Points and Conduct required inspections and release delegated Hold Points/Witness Points

Monitor the appropriate records of drawings and as-built drawings are kept

Arrange for Audits to be undertaken on the Constructors System as instructed

Review the Contractor’s Management Plans, liaising with specialist staff, were appropriate

Review the Contractor’s Management Plans, monitor compliance with the quality environment and safety requirements of the Contractor’s work

Maintain a database or similar of conformance records and quantities

Approve quantities and conformance status of the contractor’s work for assessment of progress claims

Prepare Site Instructions if required in accordance with the Contract

All other duties are reasonably expected from an Assistant Resident Engineer.

Qualifications:

PrEng/PrTech

Experience:

Minimum of 10-15 years of related experience
