Gatsby Africa is recruiting a Country Director for Kenya.

This new role will strengthen our
credibility, capability and relationships in the country, and facilitate stronger connections and engagement between our programmes and partners, enabling more effective cross-learning.

Gatsby funds and implements programmes that look to catalyse and influence large-scale and
lasting change in priority economic sectors, such as commercial forestry in Kenya. We also build and support local and regional organisations dedicated to sector transformation.

We aim to capture the learning from these initiatives, think hard about what works and why, and share the lessons with others engaged in similar work – including governments and donors.

The successful candidate will be at the heart of this work. The Country Director will coordinate cross-cutting support to our programme in the Kenyan commercial forestry sector while also leading Gatsby’s engagement, support and oversight of our institutional partners Kenya Markets Trust and Msingi.

The Country Director will use their strong interpersonal and influencing skills to build and sustain senior-level relationships across the private sector, governments and donors. By

doing so, they will not only support our programmes and partners in Kenya, but help us learn from others and increase our impact beyond our implementation by sharing our lessons.

The Country Director will report to the Executive Director and play a crucial role as part of our Senior Management Team, helping to inspire and motivate our teams, shape our culture,role model our values, and bring people together to deliver common goals and achieve our ambitious mission.
