Job Introduction:G4S Africa (SA), a leading global integrated security solutions company, has a vacancy for a Regional Infrastructure Manager based at our head offices in Centurion.
Reporting to the Regional Head of IT, the Infrastructure Manager is responsible for:
Effectively and efficiently managing the IT infrastructure including database management systems for Africa Regional business units ensuring agreed availability and security within specified cost parameters.
The post holder will also be responsible for the design and delivery of new IT infrastructure, to defined architectural standards, to meet project/programme and capacity requirements. Scope also includes server, storage, DBMS, data and voice networks.
To ensure the provision of 24/7 third-line support to the operational services in line with agreed service levels.
The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role that IT plays within a successful business unit.
The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.
Role Responsibility:
To develop and manage the technical infrastructure as defined in the IT strategy (technical), supporting the regional IT leadership team in defining strategy as required.
Manage and lead technical specialist groups to support operational services and projects /programmes as appropriate or directed by line manager/
Keep abreast of major changes or innovations within the industry (IT) within the appropriate arenas, and make recommendations to support business improvement and development, through the IT strategy looking to improve service provision and performance incorporating value for money approach.
Develop and maintain policy/ process/ plan for capacity, availability, service continuity and “patch management”.
Work with the Change Management Team to ensure that authorised technical changes are made in accordance with the needs of IT Operations, ensuring optimal operating costs and minimal disruption to production services e.g. performance and availability.
To provide 24/7/365 third line support for the technical infrastructure & database management.
Undertake root cause analysis of key infrastructure and databases faults and implement fixes.
Plan and execute projects ensuring that teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively an aligned to quality standards approach.
Tracking and reporting of progress, risks and issues of all infrastructure projects during the development cycle
To develop and maintain technical standards within IT. Ensuring these are embedded across the teams and where appropriate facilitate/ provide coaching or training for these standards.
Develop and maintain security releases and hardware updates to refresh the technical infrastructure and maintain currency.
To provide expertise and input to scoping, estimating, planning and costing to support projects.
To work with third party suppliers or vendors to define and deliver appropriate technical solutions and project deliverables gaining agreement on approach and plan for deliverables.
Manage third party infrastructure providers – ensuring delivery of service to agreed service levels and costs. Build and foster working relationships whilst managing G4S interests at all times.
Maintain service support documentation optimizing appropriate media and making this available to appropriate parties.

Control and manage infrastructure delivery within agreed OpEx and CapEx budgets
To provide input to the estimates and costs of delivering technical solutions – including input to the IT budget planning process.

You may be asked to perform additional duties in line with your role and position, including special
conditions such as working between sites, hours etc. e.g. Availability to travel to our regional offices as required and occasional out-of-hours work for staff management and to support major Incidents, or business continuity testing.
Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch/region/national safety plans for each year.
Participate in safety forums created by company for example safety meetings and safety talks
Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
Discuss all safety incidents on all levels
Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/ committee/ representative/ management
Attend safety education and refresher programmes
Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace
Distribute safety information as and when required
Wear protective clothing all the time
Minimum Requirements
Qualification
Matric
Relevant Tertiary IT Qualifications
IT Qualifications like A+, N+ or MCSE or Similar
Experience
Minimum of 5 years in Infrastructure Role or Similar
Security Industry experience advantageous
Knowledge
Sound working knowledge of the following technologies:
Server Hardware & Storage knowledge
Middleware technologies
Virtualisation
IP Networks, LAN and WAN services, Load Balancers, etc
Telephony
Firewalls
System Access Control
Monitoring and Event management tools

Essential
Excellent knowledge of the latest and emerging infrastructure and database management technologies
Technically proficient (across all IT infrastructure disciplines) to be able to challenge and influence technical discussions and strategies as demonstrated within previous roles in similar corporate business or public sector environments.
Good knowledge of ITIL Service Design and Transition processes able to articulate the benefits for progressing ITIL standards.
Strong Leadership skills coupled with excellent people management skills.
Proven strong analytical and risk management skills.
Ability to work independently across multiple groups in a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work under tight time constraints.
Self motivated, independent and resourceful.
Strong supplier management, including relationship building and negotiation skills.
Able to make rational decisions quickly under pressure
