Job Introduction:Health and Safety ManagerG4S Cash Solutions has a vacancy for a Health and Safety Manager based in Centurion.
Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely administration/completion of the Health and Safety process in line with company policies and procedures.
The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgment in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which management plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.
Role Responsibility:Main purpose of position:To manage regional quality assurance processes and the effectiveness thereof.
Key performance areas: Monitor the National Quality Management System (QMS) along with the planning and management of the internal quality audit process
Implement and review the Quality Management System on an annual basis to ensure it meets national accreditation requirements
Ensure that the Quality systems is bench-marked against recognized Quality Management Standards
Design and implement operational policy with standards and procedures for regions
Identify and manage any quality systems risks that impact on G4S
Collate feedback from compliance report on a national level and manage risks/compliance
Manage document control system within G4S
Generate and present reports
Liaise with external accreditation body and internal stakeholders
Ensure a yearly audit schedule is compiled
Manage the communication of audit dates, audit scope and procedures to required departments
Manage the audits on regional and national level
Ensure agreement on audit findings
Ensure the publication of audit results with proposed corrective action plan
Conduct meeting reviews/closing meetings with all levels of management after audit completion
Ensure the monitor and implementation of corrective action plans
Manage ISO certification Process
Ensure certification processes and external audits are facilitated within G4S locations nationally
All Directors are kept informed of pending audits
Implement national tracking process to review results both during and after each audit
Ensure national corrective action plan drafted based on regional input with recommendations with regard to corrective action follow-up strategies made
Ensure timely and accurate communication to customers
Manage the process to ensure the meeting of certification deadlines

Manage the Health and Safety Process
Advise, consult, influence and provide guidance regarding health and safety of employees and relevant legislation to improve the safety culture within G4S.
Enable management to optimally manage their safety health and environmental risk exposures and add value to various business processes
Develop, review and track progress of SHE action plans
Ensure all SHE registrations, permits and licenses applied for and up-to-date
Develop and ensure implementation of SHE Training programme
Ensure reporting of incidents to relevant regulatory authorities
Design, develop and maintain appropriate emergency plans and Business Continuity Plans (B.C.P.).
Assist customers in complying to minimum HS standards (HS files and Audits)
Contractor Management/Construction Regulations compliance (Sub- contractor compliance audits)
Ensure (Check) Health and Safety Standards are complied with:
Driver Evaluation
Vehicle Inspections
Building Inspections
Hours of work
Speed monitoring compliance
Risk Assessments conducted before contract start up.
Accommodation on mines etc.
HS Meeting attendance in an advisory capacity/Act 85 legal compliance
HS Audits (System, site and Branch)
Incident Reporting compliance according to G4S Incident Policy
Investigate incidents/accidents in conjunction with line management and SHE Representatives
Prepare reports on investigations and audits for review by management
Conduct E.H.S. and legal compliance audits according to required methodology and applicable legislation to determine progress of S.H.E.R.Q. programs and advise management accordingly
Develop in conjunction with management,
safety awareness and discussion topics (Toolbox Talks/Lessons Learnt) for safety/group meetings that will support the safety strategy and reduce incident rates as well as preventing incidents
Ensure effective interaction/communication with G4S personal performing daily task to identify initiatives that will improve the bottom line (safety and profits) and proposing solutions to decision makers as well as requesting assistance from decision makers when needed
Perform regular risk assessment review.
Attend S.H.E. committee meetings, check S.H.E. rep files and conduct regular S.H.E.inspections
Investigate incidents/accidents in conjunction with line management and S.H.E. representatives
Advise and support line management in correcting deviations and non-compliance
Ensure emergency procedures and contingency plans are updated and implemented as directed
Conduct regular inspection of work places premises in order to determine compliance with safety regulations
Encourage and motivate a culture of a healthy and safe working environment (Behavioural Safety)
Perform all tasks related to the Environmental Representative
Provide support / training to departments and regions
Provide support to departmental managers and staff on the interpretation & implementation of the OHS and Environment National Quality Management System
The Ideal Candidate:
Minimum Requirements:
Relevant Quality Assurance and Health and Safety qualification or equivalent
2 to 5 Years applicable working experience in Quality Assurance
Experience/Exposure in terms of Safety in the security industry would be advantageous
This role will required an amount of travelling within the Gauteng region and at short notice
Knowledge, skills and attributes:
Knowledge and understanding of Minimum Quality Standards and Company Policies, Processes and procedures
Knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations related to ISO certification, Health and Safety
Knowledge of the Fire arms Act
Computer Literacy
Conducting Quality, Health & Safety and environmental audits
Developing policies and operational standards
High degree of attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and towards deadlines
