    Ethiopia is one of The Foundations largest funded programs, focused on the Elimination of Trachoma. Up until now our program has focused on the complex and direct delivery of services to help those in need.

    With strong foundations in place, we are now looking to enter into a new phase of our programming building on the work that we have already done.

    In line with the priorities of the New Global Strategy, the next phase of our program will see us moving towards a system strengthening approach ensuring the work that we do, is sustainable and integrated within the local health system.

    Moving forward we will focus on the following key areas;
  • Support and Strengthen the health systems – integrating trachoma into broader eye health services
  • New Comprehensive Eye Care Programs (cataract, diabetic retinopathy, Uncorrected Refractive Error (URE) and trachoma)
  • Sustainability - through increased investment and support we will work hand in hand with local governments

    About the Position

    The Program Finance Officer is responsible for working with partner organizations to assist them in financial management. In particular the Finance officer is oversees partners financial reporting, budgeting, expenditure and compliance in line with donor and FHF procedures and policies.

    In addition to this, the Program Finance officer works closely with our partners to build the financial management capacity of Zonal/Woreda level finance through training and support.

    Specific responsibilities include:

  • Participate in project planning, partnership development and monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Review
    vouchers and invoices and monitor payment requests and disbursements on project activities assigned.
  • Provide support in maintaining accurate filing project financial information.
  • Maintains accounts payables and receivables in order to ensure complete and accurate records of funds.
  • Review financial documents at Zonal/woreda level for compliance with different requirements.
  • Coordinates and assists with the financial management of sub grants (e.g. funding, expenditures, budget adjustments, spending down etc.) for the purpose of complying with all program and guidelines of awarding organizations.
  • Coordinates post award grant processes (e.g. evaluations, budget, finance, reports, retention of records, etc.) and prepares budget reports for funds, account reconciliations, identifies and resolves discrepancies.
  • Monitors budget expenditures, grant spend down, progression of grants with respect to invoicing milestones.
  • Financial report preparation and drafting;

    About You!

    To be successful in this role, we are seeking someone with the following experience and skills
  • At least 5 years working experience in a similar role within a recognized NGO.
  • BA Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • High level of computer literacy with sound knowledge of financial accounting software and spreadsheet packages.
