Job SummaryThe Project Assistant shall be part of the programs team and shall provide support in planning, budgeting and implementation of the “Program on Women’s Empowerment in Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health Rights (POWER)” in Humanitarian Settings in Adjumani, Yumbe and Arua Districts.
She/he has to ensure that high quality work is done in the delivery of services towards achieving the objectives of the project.
Key Result Areas
Implement POWER Project activities within selected refugee settlements and host communities.
Support the education sector actors and change agents to develop and pass policy regulations and guidelines that promote second chance education.
Participate in the processes of identifying young girls and women to benefit from the POWER Project.
Under the guidance of the Project Officer, coordinate community awareness activities about negative social norms that affect girls and young women access to Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health Services (SRMNCAH) through economic empowerment.
Organize dialogue meetings for women, men and boys including community/cultural/religious leaders and POWER Club members for promotion of equal gender norms and practices on Women’s Rights to economic empowerment.
Participate in the engagement of women led CSOs in humanitarian responses to ensure SRMNCAH services and rights.
Actively participate in coordination/working group meetings with different stakeholders within the Refugee Settlements and district project activities within the district to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
Participate in the identification and training of Community Facilitators and supervision of their work.
Participate in the monitoring and support supervision of the project.
Prepare and submit quality activity, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner
Document, manage project information/knowledge and share learnings as may be guided by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Tranning
A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration, Development Studies, Adult and Community Education or related field is essential
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Statistical Packages)
Experience
At least two (2) years’ work experience with a reputable NGO in
a similar role.
Knowledge of any of the predominant local language(s) is essential
Knowledge of Arabic and or Swahili will be an added advantage
Ability to ride a motorcycle is essential

An excellent understanding of the concepts and practices of participatory development approaches
Financial Management skills
Excellent Communication skills
