Food for the Hungry (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently operating programs in 26 countries including Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America and Japan.
FH's primary goal is to respond to human suffering and graduate communities from extreme poverty. In Uganda, FH is operational in the communities ofAdjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.

Job title: WASH and Infrastructure Intern
Reports to: Program Director
Duty station: Kampala with extensive travel to WASH interventions areas.
Duration of contract: 6 months with possibility of extension.
Job Summary:The purpose of the WASH and infrastructure intern position is to ensure WASH projects are implemented effectively and professionally as per the standard design, specification and guidelines of the project.
To ensure WASH projects are implemented in line with project proposals and plans on time ensuring quality and adherence to national, international and food for the Hungry guidelines
To ensure effective participation in and ownership of the
project by communities and stakeholders through liaison, coordination and communication among Food for the Hungry‘s WASH program staff, communities/beneficiaries and other stakeholders for sustainable program results and outcomes..
Duties and Responsibilities: Key Result m Coordination and networking
Key Result #2 Technical Support and Facilitation
Key Result #3 Planning, Reporting and Accountability
Key Result #4 Additional Duties to accomplish program objectives
Qualifications and Experience Required
BSc. in Hydraulics, Sanitary or Water Resource Engineering from recognized university.
Two-Three years relevant work experiences in WASH activities at community, health institutions and schools both for emergency and development settings
Appropriate technical skills training and computer software; practical knowledge of Autocad is a must.
Knowledge of participatory processes Team work, Analytical skills and Interpersonal communication
Capacity Building/Trainings
Ability to plan own work, set priorities, complete work under pressure or when faced with competing demands and report.
