In Uganda, FH is operational in the Districts of Adjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.
Vacancy announcement (To be hired on Rolling Basis) FH/Uganda is actively seeking for qualified candidates committed to its Heartbeat and Corporate Strategy to fill the career openings below on a rolling basis; Nutrition Assistant
Position Summary:
Lead the management of nutrition activities at the health facilities and community with timely care to pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and children under the age of five years (U5). Works closely with the project officer nutrition and the health facilities to ensure activities are implemented as planned. Should have knowledge, skills and understanding the IMAM guidelines
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct health unit mapping and payment sites for cash disbursement to beneficiaries
• Ensure timely referral and treatment of malnourished PLW and U5 using the IMAM guideline at partner health facilities
• Conduct integrated community nutrition services in the community, health and nutrition education, food demonstration and communicating COVID-19 measures.
• Conduct nutrition screening and assessment to PLW and U5. Ensure MIYCAN messaging is appropriately done at distribution sites and at community level.
• Responsible for follow up of malnourished patients and ensuring that all routine medication is administered appropriately.
• Build the Capacity of VHTs and CNVs in nutritional
screening and active case finding.
• Link U2 and PLW for timely MCH services from health/nutrition clinics.
• Ensure kitchen gardening is incorporated in all messaging at the health facility and the community.
Education & Experience
• Experience in health and nutrition assessments and working in a humanitarian context.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in similar setting
Note: Must have motorcycle riding skills with a valid and clean permit and be willing to access communities by motorcycle.
Language
Proficiency in Madi/Arabic/Swahili and written English is a Must.
