Flemish Association for Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance TVET Education Advisor Jobs in Uganda

VVOB is currently looking for an expat TVET Education Advisor to start up our programme operations in Uganda and to provide technical advice, guidance and quality assurance on all programme related activities (both content- and process-wise).

You will report directly to the programme manager.

Tasks:

As an expat TVET education advisor, you will:

Start up our programme operations in Uganda, which means introducing VVOB as an expert organisation to the Ugandan education sector and establishing and maintaining strong relationships with our strategic and operational partners;

Detect professional development needs of the target groups and initiate, in cooperation with the strategic and operational partners, capacity development processes and trajectories in the BTVET sector in Uganda;

Provide technical advice, guidance and support to these capacity development processes and trajectories; more specifically in the area of student-centred and competency-based teaching and learning in BTVET and linking this to the world of work;

Be actively involved in planning, budgeting, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the programme;

Be actively engaged in expanding VVOB’s funding base (liaising with potential donors, writing proposals);

Establish and maintain strong linkages with the Flemish education sector;

Contribute to internal and external knowledge development by systemising lessons learnt and pro-actively sharing lessons learnt between partners, colleagues and other VVOB country teams.

Profile

Master’s degree or equivalent by experience;

Sound understanding of and experience with the BTVET sector (minimum 5 years), preferably in the area of the professional development of BTVET instructors (via teacher training institutions, in-service providers);

A minimum of two years working experience in the Global South, preferably in the area of development cooperation;

Knowledge of and/or experience with programme management, preferably Project Cycle Management;

An in-depth understanding of capacity development assessments, strategies, methods and tools;

Experience with capacity development and change management of government agencies and/or public sector staff, preferably in the education sector;

Experience with formulating new projects and programmes, writing project proposals;

Experience with working in a multicultural team;

Fluent in English, and preferable knowledge of Dutch;

EU citizen.
