Construction Officer
Duty Station:

Kakuma/ Kalobeyei
Reports to:

Program Coordinator

Primary purpose:

Ensure timely delivery of quality construction and Lead in overall planning and design of projects .

Prepare tender documents for construction works including technical drawings, specifications of works, Bills of Quantities and conditions of contracts.

Tasks and Duties

Overseeing and directing construction projects from conception to completion reviewing the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs

overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations

Assess the completion of works, recommend for payments, and prepare interim and final payment certificates

Maintain and update contract files on each construction project

Review contract claims, analyze and recommend variation orders

Prepare documents for final handover and closure of projects

Provide technical input in the general supervision, progress of construction activities and control of quality of materials and workmanship

Prepare the monthly cash and payment forecast for activities carried out by contractors

Produce weekly progress report on the construction activities in Kalobeyei

Qualifications

Degree / higher diploma in Structural/Civil Engineering and any other relevant education

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Project management, supervising construction sites and community work in rural areas.

Experience with other computer programs such as Proficiency in MS Office software (especially Word and Excel) and AutoCAD is essential, SAP 2000 and Microsoft Project would be an advantage.

Previous work experience in Refugee operations and implementing donor funded projects is an added advantage.

Ability to work independently in a result oriented multi-tasking and multi-cultural environment

Excellent communication (spoken and written) skill.
