Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Accountant’s responsibilities will be to ensure that sound business and financial control frameworks are in place so that internal and external governance requirements are met.

Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

Maintain and control bank accounts including checking of bank statements and Bank Reconciliation Statements

Preparation of payment documents and ensuring they are processed in a timely manner taking them for authority to pay and issuing out cheques
Handling all daily cash transactions and keeping petty cash imprest

Managing debtor and creditor books and ensuring the company practices prudent working capital management.

Preparing and presenting monthly management accounts and ensuring all relevant reports are maintained (bank reconciliation, journal entries etc).

Handling the payments of statutory and other payroll deductions and filing annual returns to the relevant government bodies

Accounting for all Receipts including interest earned/accrued on all bank accounts and Appropriation

Taking the lead in the annual audit of the company.

Any other duties that may be assigned to you.

Requirements

(Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills)

Possess a Bachelor degree

CPA (K) Preferred

Minimum 5 years work experience.

ICT skills (Accounting based software, Microsoft Office)

Good negations skills

Good accounting skills. From books of original entry to management accounting

Good Interpersonal skills i.e. Influencing, communication and negotiation skills

Problem solving and Analytical skills

Decisive decision maker.
