FHI 360 International NGO Gender Specialist (Senior Technical Officer, Gender) Vacancies in Kenya

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of strategies and innovations, including adaptation of evidence-based approaches for increasing access to quality health services by women, girls and children while also addressing low uptake of HIV prevention, care, and treatment by men, either for themselves or on behalf of their families and partners
  • Provide technical support and guidance to sub-contractors and implementing partners on integration of gender strategies into their work.
  • Contribute gender, youth, and social inclusion analysis (including a gender norm mapping exercise) to inform program design
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive strategy to address gender-related issues to impact access and coverage for HIV prevention, care, and treatment services, especially by Adolescents, Youth, Women and Girls (AYWG)
  • Provide technical assistance to institutionalize successful approaches in gender, youth and social inclusion;
  • Provide guidance on best practices in the field.
  • Review social and behavior change communication and group education materials that seek to transform norms on gender and gender-based violence to ensure they are gender-sensitive and transformative.
  • Adapt trainings for health providers on issues such as respectful care, gender sensitive health service delivery, gender-based violence and engaging men in health.
  • Conduct supportive supervision to ensure that the above has been well applied in health services, education and outreach.

    Qualifications

  • Master Degree public health or related advanced degree with 5-7 years’ relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 7-9 years’ relevant experience in HIV prevention, gender mainstreaming
  • Relevant experience in international development work preferably focused on gender and institutional development/organizational change and/or gender mainstreaming or related fields (capacity building/accountability/enabling environment/mainstreaming gender in a sector,
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong technical capacity and practical experience in designing and implementing youth focused and gender sensitive development programs.
  • Excellent group facilitation, multi-stakeholder consultation, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent capacity-building and training skills.
  • Strong writing skills, both for technical and program reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well in cross-cultural teams and under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Kiswahili is crucial.

    FHI 360 International NGO Senior Technical Officer, Continuous Quality Improvement Vacancies in Kenya

    Job Summary

    The primary function of this position is to facilitate the implementation of the KQMH in project-supported health facilities and sites. The Technical Officer, CQI, will be responsible for making available all relevant current National Guidelines, Policies and Standards of service delivery in HIV prevention, care and treatment, including PMTCT, pediatric and adolescent care to service delivery teams and providers and facilitating their translation to implementation interventions that are supported by the project.

    Responsibilities

  • Translating the project-supported package of service delivery interventions into service-level standards or operating procedures consistent with national guidelines and policies
  • Provision of direct technical assistance and mentoring to quality teams and service delivery providers offering service interventions using evidence from analyzed service delivery data
  • Identification of quality areas in need of performance improvement and supporting the implementation of the models for change
  • On-site visits to support data abstraction and analysis to selected supported facilities to provide on-going technical assistance.
  • Review of monthly/quarterly reports from supported health facilities and sites and providing immediate technical guidance and recommendations related to tracked indicators and outcomes.
  • Mentoring facility CQI teams to build local capacity for CQI implementation and analysis and interpretation of results of implemented actions.
  • Assisting the facility CQI teams to abstract data after every improvement cycle to analyze the findings and recommend subsequent measures necessary to achieve set objectives. Participating in the dissemination of results to the facility management and quality teams and facilitating the facility-wide adoption of CQI practices across key service delivery interventions.
  • Recommend and support the skills and knowledge update training to service providers in conjunction with the outreach mentorship and supervision teams.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or public health with 7-9 years’ work experience or
  • Masters degree in related field with 5-7 years’ work experience or Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution and registered with the Clinical Officers Council with 9-11 years’ work experience.
  • At least 3 years of clinical current hands-on experience of providing integrated HIV/AIDS services to diverse patients in a large program-linked facility or very busy clinical practice.
  • Completed training in Quality Improvement models and participated in quality improvement projects for clinical interventions.
  • Computer literate and competent in the use of ICT resources.
