Job DescriptionJob SummaryProvide technical support in the training of staff and the design and evaluation of rural livelihoods programs in protracted and post crises locations
Position: Livelihood officer (Internal/External)
Duty Station: Shebedino, Sidama
Duration of Contract: One year contract (60 working days of probation period)
Closing date: November 18, 2022
Principal Responsibilities:Key Result #1- Specific ResponsibilitiesPrepares plan of action and budget for the component;
Introduce the target community with better means of production, gives awareness creation trainings on the importance of improved seeds;
Encourage the use of traditional small scale irrigation practice by diverting water from rivers and give awareness creation trainings on how and what to produce;
Establishment of fruit nursery sites; follows up its managements, distribution of seedlings to beneficiaries and status of seedlings after distribution.
Prepares training curricula and organizes training manuals for all the trainings under the component,
Conducting fruit production and saving habit trainings,
Providing vegetable and fruit seeds and various cuttings timely.
Submits performance evaluation results of staff under his/her supervision on time;
Prepares and timely submit periodic reports of the component to the immediate supervisor;
Conduct monthly review meetings with center supervisors, and social workers
Key Result #2- Planning and Reporting
Prepares annual plan of action with other staffs for the component;
Prepares monthly, quarterly, bi-annually and annual reports (for Head Office, BoFED, DPPC and NOs) including impacts, problems encountered and solutions proposed and submits to the project manager on time.
Prepares beneficiary profiles and other success stories and submits to project manager
Key Result #3- Resource Management
Responsible for the effective and efficient management of all assets of the organization entrusted to him for work purposes.
Key Result #4- Monitoring and Evaluation
Ensures that the component activities are being implemented in accordance with the project annual operational plan.
Observes any changes within the project for impacts (both positive/negative) in the community and records them for self-monitoring and evaluation.

Experience
3 years related experience in a relevant position Preferably in INGO Setting
Education/ Certifications
Bsc in Agriculture or relevant field of study.
Distinguishing Competencies
Strong computer skill and knowledge in the area of MS word, MS Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint and email communication.
High level of initiative taking.
Language
Proficiency in both spoken and
written English. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Knowledge of local language of the intervention area is preferred.
Safety and Security Responsibilities
Each FHE staff member should adhere to all pertinent policies concerning safety and security policy of FH. Lapses in safe conduct can jeopardize the health and welfare of all staff.
Every FHE staff member has an obligation to learn and understand the security situation where they are located.
He/she has a responsibility to become familiar to social, cultural and other associated features of their duty stations;
Abstains from inappropriate or offensive behaviour that can put FHE in a difficult position, impair operations, and jeopardize the health and welfare of all staff of FHE.
All FHE staff should promotes safe conducts and exercises caution in all work activities; staff should accountable for own personal and professional actions and conduct.
Gender Responsibilities
Be familiar with the local Gender Focal Point(s), and go to her/him to learn more about gender issues, or when there is a gender grievance or harassment issue to resolve
Within each project and department, discuss FH’s Gender & Diversity and Sexual Harassment and sexual exploitation Policies, so that all staff are conversant with them.
Refrain from any comments or gestures that indicate prejudicial views of female staff, especially female supervisors.
