Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation and tracking of FEED´s programs, projects, and activities. S/he will ensure that FEED’s programs are benefiting each other and are aligning with overall goals.

S/he will ensure that standard operating procedures and implementation plans are developed, budgets and timelines are supervised and kept, results are achieved, and reporting requirements are met.

Reporting line to Country Representative

Principal Responsibilities

Program management

  • Manage delivery of FEED programs’ outputs, consistently and proactively monitoring and reporting on progress through quarterly, semiannual, and annual reports while complying with all established reporting requirements including deadlines.

  • Manage and remain accountable for programs’ expenditures against the budget based on accurate financial reports.

  • Provide continuous follow up of technical input, support, and guidance to the relevant counterparts to implement activities with high quality standards.

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with FEED and partners including government, implementing partners and universities, among others, to promote the value, comparative advantages, and FEED’s visibility and to leverage on available technical expertise and standards.

  • Ensure that all program activities comply with FEED organizational policies, regulations, and rules.

  • Identify and manage risks so that maximum benefit to clients and stakeholders is achieved.

  • Maintain critical program records and documents on the FEED Shared Drive.

    Monitoring and Reporting

  • Put in place and continuously implement solid reporting mechanisms in the program on a regular basis against set targets and indicators.

  • Prepare and issue regular reports in accordance with funding partners and FEED requirements for reporting.

  • Regularly review program status, evaluating scope, cost, schedule, and quality.

  • Provide routine oversight and analysis of delivery data.

  • Ensure all team members track and regularly update milestones and targets.

  • Provide quality control for management outputs such as documents and reports and coordinate quality reviews of program documents and deliverables.

  • Support the design, implementation, and analysis of baseline and endline studies, and the application of the qualitative and quantitative data in the planning, evaluation, and reporting of the projects.

    Knowledge management

  • Coordinate knowledge building and sharing with regards to the development and implementation of the program, synthesis of lessons learnt and/or best practices, and sound contributions to FEED’s knowledge management initiatives.

  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to ensure work standards are achieved, both in terms of quality and quantity of inputs and/or outputs processed.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for improved client services and outcomes and implement strategies to effect improvements and identify areas where program data can improve efficiency in implementation.

  • Organize and store up to date programs’ data and information including raw data, monitoring reports, quarterly, semiannual, and annual reports, among others, in both electronic and physical form as necessary.

  • Support capacity
    building and networking of program staff and stakeholders to facilitate knowledge exchange through established knowledge platforms.

  • Support FEED’s efforts in becoming a center of excellence for nutrition research knowledge products.

    Personnel management and leadership

  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and diversity by providing the program team with clear direction, objectives, and guidance to enable them to perform their duties responsibly, effectively, and efficiently.

  • Promote continuous assessment of the performance and effectiveness of program implementation, recommending changes and/or corrective actions to enhance and maintain effectiveness.

    Job Level Specifications

  • Strong experience in designing, implementing, and managing community health and nutrition projects and programs in resource-constrained settings.

  • Proven strong experience in conducting program needs assessments, baseline and endline surveys, and reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

  • Strong computer knowledge including use of Microsoft packages such as Ms. Word, Ms. PowerPoint, Ms. Excel.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and complete fluency in English.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and with program staff, government counterparts and partners

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in related field such as Public Health, Agriculture, Food Security & Livelihood, Food Science or Nutrition preferred.

  • Minimum of eight years of program management experience required with emphasis on project cost, schedule, performance, and requirements management.
