Farsight is recruiting a Communications Specialist with demonstrated experience in client management, communications,events planning and outreach.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures planning and design of internal and external strategies for communications geared towards supporting Farsight’s partnership-building and resource mobilization.
Manages the writing, development, design, production and dissemination of diverse publications and news releases through a variety of media, including print, broadcast and social.
Planning and elaboration of communications needs assessments for our prospect clients.
Developing well-developed communications strategy based on the corporate clients’ needs.
Building Stronger relations/partnerships with UN and other UN system agencies
Strategic partnerships formed with media counterparts at other UN agencies, and with external media networks, strengthening internal capacity for our media outreach and technical expertise
Enhanced media/press coverage of Farsight and its strategic areas, positions and issues, in line with corporate communications strategies.

Takes responsibility for achieving agreed outputs within set deadlines and strives until successful outputs are achieved
Makes the case for innovative ideas documenting successes and building them into the design of new approaches
Understands more advanced aspects of external relations and communications, as well as the fundamental concepts of related disciplines
Identify, develop, distribute and evaluate variety of media materials in multiple, appropriate formats
(Press releases, feature stories etc.).
Ensure or enhance the quality, appropriateness of country specific communication materials, activities, processes and messages transmitted to the press, partners and public.
Develop a work plan for communication activities, monitor compliance and provide support and guidance to ensure objectives are met.
Plan and monitor the use of communication budgetary resources.
Approve and monitor the overall allocation and disbursement and liquidation of funds.
Take appropriate actions to optimize use of funds.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
A minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, international relations, or related field.
Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in communications at the national or international level, including experience in media relations.
Experience of working with UN/UN agencies or private sector is desirable.
Experience of working in East African region with focus in Somalia.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required.
