Fairtrade Africa (FTA) is the umbrella network organization representing Fairtrade certified producers and workers in Africa. It

has four (4) regional networks – Eastern & Central Africa; Southern Africa; Western Africa; and the Middle East and North Africa.
Established in 2005, FTA aims to effectively represent producers and workers within the International Fairtrade system and
provide services to them that contribute to the improvement of their livelihoods. The FTA Board directs policy and strategic development of the organization.

To improve the socio- economic conditions of African producers through increased access to better trading conditions.

Fairtrade Africa Membership Officer Jobs in Kenya

Responsibilities

Membership support

  • Oversee membership applications, and undertake all aspects of data entry relating to members in accordance with
    the agreed data for collection requirements.
  • Conduct key membership tasks including creating invoices and receipts, processing membership invoices and
    payments, and keeping membership fee payment tracking files up to date.
  • Ensure that all responses to membership enquiries are immediate and to a good standard.
  • Facilitate joint planning and review with producer organizations and ensure timely gathering and distribution of
    information to producer organizations.
  • Contribute to the development of the memberships strategy
  • Deliver a seamless experience to the members as well as providing support and assistance to team members
    where needed.

    Reporting and Communication

  • Lead in preparation of all field level reports on progress of implementation of membership activities
  • Ensure effective two-way communication between producer organizations and field staff
  • Regularly make follow ups and collect feedback/information from producer organizations for monitoring &
    evaluation of services received to inform continuous improvements
  • Clearly communicating membership benefits

    Administrative Support

  • Support provide logistical support to the organization for events and workshops
  • Maintain and develop strategies for the administration of individual membership;
  • Develop and use annual and quarterly work plans to
    guide work and deliver results that support FTA members.
  • Follow up with POs for membership fulfilments related payments
  • Represent the FTA at meetings, events/forums, and conferences in and outside the country

    Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of the concept of “membership” and experience working with such networks;
  • Adept at MS Office, particularly Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter, action-oriented and results driven;
  • Highly organized and methodical
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
    verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to work to deadlines and cope with pressure, multi-task, demonstrate flexibility;
  • Flexible team player, with awareness of and sensitivity to the multi-cultural environment in which the FTA operates;
  • Mastery of English is essential; proficiency in additional languages in the region is highly desirable
