Reporting to the Cluster Director of Sales, the Director of Leisure Sales is responsible for generating business within the high-end leisure sales market. The ideal candidate will be based in Nairobi, and have previous experience developing strong leisure sales business leads in both the domestic and international travel markets.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for business development and maintaining relationships with key travel partners including Virtuoso, American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, Signature Travel, and Ensemble.

What you will be doing:
Responsible for driving business within the leisure sales market
Building and maintaining relationships with key travel agency partners such as Virtuoso, American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, Signature Travel, etc. Execute effective sales trips to key feeder markets to build the hotel’s reputation in accordance with the hotel’s strategic reposition following the more than a $30 million renovation
Achievement of sales activities and all objectives outlined in the annual strategic plan
Exceed personal sales goals, monthly, quarterly, and annually
Proactively develop relationships with key brand and local hotel partnership and establish a reputation for the hotel within the global travel community
Develop lead sources and rapport with key personnel, Fairmont Global Sales Office sellers, sister hotel leisure sellers, and assigned client base
Ensure that day to day responsibilities such as prospecting, account development, site inspections and proper account management practices are completed to company standards
Ensure rate negotiations are within the established parameters. Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required. Develop and implement quarterly action plans utilizing strategies and long term goals based on market and competitive intelligence
Organize and participate in appropriate sites, familiarizations,
and industry trade shows
Maintain active memberships in industry-related organizations and associations pertaining to market
Coordinate and financially manage effective sales trips and appointments within assigned markets, including timely follow-up and trip reports.
Be an active member of the revenue management team to determine strategies to optimize revenue opportunities, and implement initiatives to drive revenue
Utilize computer software applications to effectively track, solicit, book, and follow up on accounts in a proactive manner
Support and encourage a positive team approach. Implement directives as outlined by the Cluster director of sales
Uphold the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times
Perform any and all other tasks which are assigned
Your experience and skills include:
Proven experience in sales, preferably in the hospitality industry, with a strong focus on the leisure & wholesale market in a luxury hotel brand
The successful candidate must possess a minimum of five years+ of experience in luxury travel sales.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Experience in City, Resort and remote destination sales
Experience working in the International market is an asset
Bachelors Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree is an asset
Ability to develop relationships with all levels of clientele, and interact with people from different cultures and backgrounds
Astute attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Valid driver's license.
