Executives Placements Senior Specialist - Mining and Metals Jobs in South Africa
Objective of RoleProvide specialist strategic support through technical expert input in areas of specialization towards the achievement of the SBU’s development strategies and industry development goals (areas of specialization usually refer to technical aspects within a sector/value chain, however it can also relate to a specialist knowledge of other aspects associated with the sector or the value chain)
Perform technical/marketing risk analysis in area/s of specialization on deals and provide expert opinion on possible risk mitigants.
Key Performance Areas:
Internal/ Operational processes:
Conduct specialist evaluation/due diligence of business proposals and deals under consideration
Participate due diligence investigations
Assess applications for finance
Provide specialist inputs to pro-active marketing strategies, assessment of applications, due diligence and sector strategies and initiatives
Provide specialist input and advice to industry forums, policy debates and COMPANY (for strategy development and other objectives)
Identify any risk in deals and projects (including during implementation) and defining mitigation plans to minimize these risks
Provide specialist input into the technical/marketing aspect of the report for presentation to the relevant credit and other committees as required
Participate in industry research in conjunction with Research and Information Department, and other external sources and agencies.
Customer focus/ stakeholder management:
To build and maintain a network specializing in technical/marketing aspects (existing and expanded)
To effectively interact with different SBU’s/ parties
in order to provide specialist support and technical input where relevant.
Represent COMPANY on steering committees and other task teams as required
Manage and enhance the levels of service and communication to ensure the provision of client service excellence.
Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to address industry related issues.
Learning, leadership and people growth:
Grow and deepen knowledge and understanding of current and new areas of specialization
Keep up to date with latest industry developments (conferences and sector forums)
Participate and lead knowledge sharing in the team and cross functional
Coaching and mentoring of team members
Qualification Requirements
Minimum qualification
relevant technical or commercial Honors Degree or equivalent qualification.
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
8-10 years industry/sector(s) specific experience – Steel experience
Previous experience analyzing all technical and marketing aspects of a deal/project – due diligence experience
Experience in peer review
Competent in coaching and mentoring of team members
Known as an expert/specialist (inside and outside COMPANY) within the area of specialization
