Scope of the StudyThe scope of the study is in Ethiopia, with a focus on Addis Ababa and one rural woreda in Southern nations, Chuko woreda (near Aleta wendo),because the two areas recorded as the high prevalent areas in the country.
Duties and Responsibilities
The consultant is expected to
Prepare initial study proposal includes introduction and rationale; aim and objectives; conceptual framework; methodology; ethical considerations/protocols; study limitations/risks; work plan, including detailed field work with responsibilities and timelines and structure of the final report in English and submit to EWLA for comments
Conduct a desk review over the relevant international and national documents related COVID 19.
Prepare data collection instruments in English, and submit to EWLA for comments.
Collect data and conduct interviews with different stakeholders in the project targeted areas
Draft the final report with its possible recommendation and Submit to EWLA for comments
Submit progress report to EWLA duly for comments aside from regular reports
Present the research findings on a validation workshop for relevant stakeholders to gather comments and recommendations
Incorporate relevant comments and recommendations from the stakeholders
Produce the final report in English language and submit to EWLA.
Performance of other duties as required within the above given topic.
Time Frame
Two month are allocated for the completion of the indicative study from the time of signing of the contract.
The consultant is obliged to submit progress report to EWLA every 20 days
The consultant should complete and submit to EWLA the design of the research and the data collection instruments within five days after the signing of the contract.
The consultant shall submit a draft copy of the study at the 40th day for comment by EWLA, which
EWLA should complete and return within five days.
Presentation of the findings will be conducted at a validation workshop to be organized by EWLA at the 50thday of the study for comments and opinions by stakeholders.
The consultant shall submit the final copy of the research on the 60th day of the survey.
Research Methodology
The research will undertake quantitative methodology supplemented by qualitative methodology includes but not limited to focus group discussions and key informant interviews.
Deliverables
The study design, and data collection instruments, in English language
The filled out questionnaire and recorded interviews with transcription /raw data/,
The draft report of the research in English in soft and hard copy,
Summarized findings of the research to be presented on a validation workshop
The final report of the research in English language undertaken as per the above objective and frameworks in hard as well as soft copies.
Job Requirements
Required Skills and Experience
Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Development or Gender Studies, Social/Public Policy, Social Work or any other relevant discipline;
Minimum of eight (5) years of practical experience in socio-scientific research and/or working with projects linked to gender or any other similar domain;
Proven successful records in conceptualizing, elaborating and conducting qualitative and quantitative studies on gender issues
Sensitivity towards cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality, and age sensitivity and adaptability;
Strong communication, team building, interpersonal, analysis, and planning skills.
