Job DescriptionThe Ethiopian Society of Sociologists, Social Workers and Anthropologists (ESSSWA)has been implementing a project entitled: “Strengthening Social Services System in Ethiopia (SSSSE)” with a financial and technical support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The overall objective of the project is to improve social services provided to HIV and AIDS infected and affected adults, Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their families in Ethiopia by strengthening social service delivery system and workforce in four Regional States (Tigray, Amhara, Oromiya and SNNP) and Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa City Administrations.
ESSSWA is looking for a high level, competent and experienced candidates to fill the position of project Manager/Chief of party. Therefore, interested professionals who fulfill the requirements are hereby invited to apply for the position.
Core competencies:
The chief of Party/ Project Manager is expected to be familiar with coordination, leadership and management responsibilities related to social service system strengthening, local capacity building, development and standardization of tools and guidelines in Ethiopia.
He/she should possess very practical knowledge and practices in HIV, Social protection, graduation/transition of OVC and urban safety net program related to OVC care and HIV.
Major roles of the Project manager/ chief of party include, but not limited to:
Manage , coordinate and lead USAID-SSSS Activity implementation from Federal through regional and zonal government, kebele/community and OVC local implementation partners
Manage the project resource adhering to USAID compliance procedures and ESSSWA’s rules and policies.
Work closely with Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, HAPCO, Ministry of education/TVET Agencies and their regional and zonal structures.
Coordinate and lead the capacity building activities, technical assistance to local government and community structures,(eg Community Care Coalition)
Ensure compliance to USAID and government policies and procedures with regard to project execution, procurement, property administration and human resource management,
Support the development
and revision of training curriculums, guidelines, tools and procedures.
Lead and Provide Technical support for USAID/PEPFAR Local Implementing partners and GOE
Conduct monitoring and supervision and compile feedback/reports for decision making.
Submit periodic quality reports about the implementation progresses of the project to GOE and the USAID
Solicit opportunities and provide assistance in strengthen the social services systems in response to vulnerable population mainly OVC.
Lead and coordinate to generate evidences including the operational research.
Serve as the main post of contact for the USAID SSSSE activities.
Accomplish other duties provide by the Executive Director as deemed necessary.
Duration of Employment
One year with possibility of extension based on performance and availability of fund for project.
Job Requirements
Required Qualification:
Master’s Degree or above in Social work, Sociology, Anthropology and Psychology other related fields with a minimum of five years of above experience in senior program management position(s), in managing large donor projects preferably USAID /PEPFAR funded projects.
Additionally, the candidate should have well- functioning interpersonal, partner’s management and organizational communication and presentation skills and having practical skills in computer application including MS office, SPSS and the like.
