Job Description

Background

Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is an exciting and dynamic autonomous federal government institute having its own legal personality as the main government body in charge of three main tasks as expressed in the regulation number 301/2013.

The institute is mandated to conduct researches and technology transfer in public health issue; provide referral service for diagnostic and analytical tests; support the capacity building of health and food science laboratories at the national level for quality laboratory services; leads the public health emergency management of the country; and conduct researches in traditional medicine.

The Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) division focuses on disease outbreaks, nutritional emergencies, and health consequences of natural and manmade disasters.

PHEM mainly emphasizes on early and timely detection, risk communication and control of epidemics and other public health threats, reduction in morbidity, mortality as well as case fatality rate of epidemic diseases to cope with existing, emerging and re-emerging epidemics, natural disasters of national and international concerns.

Roles and Responsibility

Ensure the availability of drugs and other medical supplies public health emergency response and preparedness
vMobilize and secure resources required for the trainings, emergency response, supervisions

Develop supply chain management strategies that increase

efficiency and speed

Review or update supply chain practices in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations or laws

Diagram supply chain models to help facilitate discussions with customers.

Develop material costs forecasts or standard cost lists

Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, move or store materials

Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements

Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities

Implement new or improved supply chain processes

Job Requirements

Qualification: MSc in pharmacy, logistics and supply chain management

Minimum Experience: Four (4) years

Required number: one(1)

Minimum base Salary: Government salary scale

Desirable Qualities, Skills and Competences:

Proven knowledge on the medical counter measure system in Ethiopia

Proven knowledge in Pharmaceutical funding and supply chain management system

Knowledge in emergency medical supplies

Ability to work with and process confidential information with discretion and sensitivity

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize under pressure

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to maintain ICT materials, documentation for external reports and other
